Ok, still summer, but the italian autumn classic and semiclassic season starts today.

Always a highlight in the Singeseason. Unfortunately the results usually are not real highlights.. especially in August

The start. So far, Singeults: Nothing. But ok, not that important after all, still, like both Matteotti and Camoiore, would rather win one of the 2 than some french/german/dutch etc. cat 3 races...

Here too.. no real result. Bernocchi ok, 2 and 3, would prefer a win, Agostoni last year 6th, best, Tre Valli a complete failure, every year 13th, 27th and 2 years couldn't participate...

Don't really like Melinda all that much, but ok, still want to win... no results yet of course. Veneto on the other hand more important again.

Basically he goals of the Singe season..... Will mostly try to dominate the afteroon, but history says I'm probably in for a disappointment...

First race, the expected colossal failure.. 23rd and 33rd, yep, even forgot to sprint with Berlogea.. not that he would have been much further ahead.... still, could have avoided the 68 credit loss,managed to lose money with a 382k team

But the race was great, cool 6 rider group, Wassissi and 5 others, barely worth mentioning those 5. Behind 2 probably fairly dead teams started chasing early, Lecce and fresim, at 3 min, went up til 8'... then started gaining time back. Unfortunately Egs had to be off a few times, so decided to drop back. Otherwise who knows, maybe we had a chance, were caught in the last hill finally, with Egs we manage to get accross the summit I think.. but then.. don't know. Anyway, enjoyed the race, was very open in the final as well, but then came down to the sprint anyway. Will be one of the goals for 2011 as well... maybe with a top 20 place even. That's the goal for GP Carnaghese now...

Dominated by Elb... Berlo did an ok race finally, but Elb just too strong. Could have gotten a quadruple almost...

Then today.

THE big appointment of the month for the ape. TRE VALLI VARESINE
Buonarroti, Berlogea and Qian, an average form of 99,66 Plouay, pff, Hamburg, haha, Veneto Melinda, Agostoni Bernocchi... all nice and good, but the one that is the most important clearly Tre Valli. Why?

2006: Cool race, with ZL, Bella and others... last sieb before the flat part to Campione... Aebi in front, Cellini back a few seconds. never game back, fought, tried, but Aebi just too strong. Aebi rides, Abgottspon wins. Horrible, a ZL win.
2007: Still the mountain finish in Campione... Klebt with no climber. What to do? Ares, Graziani, Pitu, Wang.. .easy, sieb, attack, sieb sieb, attack win. Well... all except the win. Lots of siebs and attacks, some chasing too, then skullz decided that now serious things were to begin, got my not so fantastic main attack, won... Result... 27-29 for the Robysts... wang at 27 the best.
2008: First attack of serious RSF connection problems. Team gave up sometime during the race.
2009: Had to go to Japan on short notice... grrr..

Definelty something to prove in the race, so... "only" cat 4, but for the Ape THE race this month. Starting time 9, that or 17 the only one that work right now... so 9 it was.

That says it all. 2 Apes, 2 fresims 2 Alks, 1 Ape, then 3 others. A weak group. Unfortunately. Tre Valli Varesine deserves much better. No disrespect to the others, not even to NoPik, after all it's tuesday, but I was 95% sure one of the three "bigs" would win. the only ones with both the riders and the experience to win. There really was not much the others could do.. ok, maybe a climber could manage to beat Sisulu/Dagewo in a sprint... maybe if an attack goes earlier somebody can follow with his classic rider and win. Maybe an early group can do it... but all unlikely... it was fresim and if not Alk or the Ape.

6 times for a classic is just too much. Even if there aren't 2 parallel toursm 4 would have been much better. A one day race, people are more flexible. If Rund um den Misthaufen v1351 is offered 8 times a day. Ok, who cares in the end. Not perfect maybe, but not a big problem. But a race that counts? The groups shouldn't be diluted by offering it 6 times. The numbers of all the groups look ok finally. The quality? Much less. Ours probably the weakest in the end, others better, but a really good group? Haven't seen it yet... A shame.

The race? Easy, early attack, only 4 in front. Big failure of the "small" teams here. They really needed to be there. But ok, hard weather, so everybody needs helpers... fresim controls, 11' something at the foot of the climb to Brinzio... then the 7 laps, fresim controls, probably a bit too fast, but nothing really happens. End of the fourth lap first attacks, NoPik first, then Vargas and some others, Klebt misses it, first wanted to go in the climb, but after NoPiks attack in the downhill fresim went faster in the hill... and the wrong Alk went later... Here again, probably fresims reaction to strong, still 30 Km to go, they won't win. He even used Martinello 68-84 a few km here. End of the 5th lap, fresim does the big sieb, with Makeba, 72. Only 3 Robys in front... but 3 between the front group and the next fresim, fresim who has 4 in front... So he doesn't wait, not only because of that probably, but because waiting invites attacks, he just got Vargas and co... so he continues, using mostly Makeba, some Martinello again maybe.... End of the 6th roung, Gardel goes in the downhill... +6. Qian and Berlogea attack. Logic, fresim has only 2 really fit ones, sisulu and Dagewo... Makeba in tempo, but certainly weakened, Martinello used as well... Ok Qian and Berlo had helped Buonarroti some km after the sieb... Attack, expected a few on me... Nobody... well, ok, a few that couldn't follow, even 72-80.. hehehe... form, form. but no Zapata, was fairly sure he would be there, no Sisulu.. mmhh.. shit. Buonarroti was either on Sisulu or Belgrano, don't remember what I did, was thinking about the 2 then... at first thought that so I was lost. really thought Zapata would be there... but in the end.. no, perfect. 10" on top of the hill, Martinello to weak, lost more time, then in the downhill nobody helped fresim, the only one who could have was Alk, maybe should have.. he had chances to win, but ok didn't... 30" 2 km from the goal, saved 16" for the win. Plus Ivan 7th.. .should have been third of fourth.. fourth probably.. grr. attack on the 6, as expected the strongest, then next km another attack, of course had to follow Sisulu and sprint from 500 or 450... Belgrano who was one sec behind me the same.. but both didn't... But think then fresim could have been beaten... But that didn't really matter since the 2 apes were in front, hihihi... The Ape decided: Septimiu to win, Qian only second, Qian not very happy after the race, he wanted to sprint, said he deserved a chance, right, but Septimiu is still winless, Qian won the prestigious chinese championship, so Berlogea!!

Happy with the result of course, but really would prefer stronger groups.. then I don't win, right, but pff... not everybody should win classics, just the ones that are good enough to beat a strong group...

Coppa Agostoni

Cool race.. arrived 20" before the race went off, oh, Alk not blocking, attack... a bit later I realized Alk wasn't even in the race... which changed everything, it became a very open race. First sieb on the Colma di Sormano with Nedelcu, followed by an attack by Uzielli and Wassissi on top. Unfortunately for me Rolling Stones, who had all nine in front didn't like that and chased. Following the Ape would have been better for both I think.. .but ok. After the Madonna del Ghisallo, ok give up, Feng-Uzielli and Machoro wait for the peloton. Then it was Rolling stones turn to attack, but by now the big chasing group was almost back. Gave up soon too. Next up, Colle Brianza, Aix with a sieb, but finally didn't do the expected attack. first groups come back, then fresim goes out at km 150.. +3. Attack by Aix and Ape, Wassissi and O'Connell as helpers, Berlogea and Tissot as leaders. Following Domba from fresim, man marking Berlogea and Qian today, Silvetta from Nano and Riquelme, the simpsons. Behind, nobody really wants or can chase hard. fresim in front, NoPik needs his helpers after the last 6... advantage stays around 45"... the 6", trying to drop Silvetta only 65 mountain, but couldn't.. .then the last km. Domba not working, Berlogea neither in that case, the 3 others do, getting nervous occasionally because of the 2 parasites.. Attack by Berlogea, easily caught by Nano and Aix, then the sprint, Berlogea goes at 500, nobody follows, but had lost to much energy to really have a chance. Got the podium finally. Winner Nano, Silvetta. Cool race, fresim playing the following card today, was fairly well done I think. could have worked, didn't though. In retrospect maybe better to leave Dombo behind and just ride, green if necessary to let some groups back. But could have worked this way too. Exciting race, had fun.

Sprint, as expected. But was too easy, nobody tried to do something else. Alk spent to much yesterday to try today, Classic was offline and out, NoPik has a normal sprinter too... so in the end... not much happened.

Sieb on every lap by Dream, but never even one km more.. if he wanted to get his chance because the sprinters don't wait for each other... then he needs to invest more... like that een the 3/4 dead pace makers always came back, 1 km and out: not enough... Last sieb, all sprinter in front after 1 km except 2. Rimkus and INese... see the end result, grrrr. But only Alk rides... nobody else. FL and Ape could have helped, sure... but FL and Ape now something about sprints... you need as many riders as possible to make tempo. And FL and Ape know some of the managers as well.... and the majority of those in front... with 91 and 90... not trustworthy. A 93 with +/- 50 less energy than the others because FL came to late, a 92... will Alk, Wookie, Sandow, Nano and Lausitz help? Alk already riding, ok, the others? Except Wookie who had alredy announce that he would help block in the end... was fairly sure they wouldn't. And in fact they didn't... Rather wait for NoPik who will ride, and Wickinger who might, no idea about him. So no tempo, none of the 90-91 helped Alk either... then Alk out, nobody attacks. That attack would have been huge.. and dangerous. But nobody went. After 1 k Nano goes in gains time on the group in the back again... from 13" back up to 20" I think... then goes out, all together... Attacks?`Only one good one, Aux, the rest who wanted to attack just slept and tried in the last few km when the few fit riders were actually riding... Sprint... Wookie does a train, Sandow follows. Then the Ape does a train... .Qian with 600 energy followed by Karli.. .aaaaaahhhhhh... helping. GRRr, only decided that Qian was going to spritn 5 or so km from the end.. don't need him tomorrow, he can sprint.. forgot to take the help out. Horrible. Inese follows, Rimkus follows INese.. Rimkus wins. Karli third..... idiotic. Of course without the mistake I would have ended up 6th or so... but bah... still idiotic, hate those helping mistakes.

Trittico over, the charming ape is very happy. Won 3 Valli, first and second. Then third Agostoni and third Bernocchi... but what counts is the win on tuesday.

Big group that goes early, and saved themselves. Behind.... Ivan with chances in the last 3 km if the group comes until there closed, probably slightly better form then the others, the 87 should be roughly the same strength. Favorites, Merzagora 88 with sprint, Dahlin 89 but less sprint, then Gaurain either with Heinhardt (or Quinthardt???) 87 or from far with Baiwir, Sheringham and Ivan too... But the 3 main favorites somehow decided to play another game... the one trying not to use their own riders. Would have expected collaboration to be fairly easy, then later on maybe some fights, weaken BMG, a weaker team, try something from far, etc. But they seemed mostly interested in not working... Bored Ape with an attack, they chased then, ok then a sieb and we went a few km faster until caught. Then... nothing... nobody in tempo even, advantage from 6' to 9' again... Aix attacks with 2 flat riders, then in the next hill... Dalcin Tempo.. ok, he's going to attack.. Qian on Dalcin, he goes... good. Next km he goes with Sheringham too.. and the Ape is unhappy... way too early, grrrr, no chance, grrrrr, why is Ivan already on Sheringham, that was for the last kms... But ok, we ride... first the flat boys, then Dalcin, then Tissot and Qian... but cleverer to use one first, so Qian, then Tissot, then the last 3 km on our own. Finally only Dahlin caught us, Merzagora and Heinhardt were still playing the marking game.. Actually I think they could have gotten earlier and fairly easily... but they didn't. Aix and the ape collaborated well, think we did everything or almost everything right, cool attack by Aix. In front? While Aix was starting his attack, in front they already had time for lots of games, they probably lost over 1' there. waiting for some etc. In the end, 22", but deserved, in the back we didn't really do enough,not only the 3 "bigs" but also Aix and the ape, we had chances even without the Aixcape, but didn't work either... or very little. In front they collaborated, not always without discussion, normal, everybody wants to win, Equipe LEGENDE rode more than the rest, but finally still had the energy to get away in the end Nobody even tried to follow though. Deserved victory in an interesting race.

The robysts not that brilliant, 17. Qian and 35 at 40" Eiterolloid. Result not that brilliant, but happy with the ride,

Leader nr 1, was clear, Karli. First problem, no FL here, made a difficult job more difficult. But some others who maybe could help, Riders, Erz, Falkenbier, who knows? And Trueba vs the classic sprinters. T-Mobile, Ari, Dream.. I actually thought the favorites were this guys. Gardel+Vargas, Vargas and Gardel, that's who you have to beat. Thought they would try to isolate them. Let them work as early as possible, thus giving me maybe a chance to come back.

Early group, Alk rides.. I thought he would let T-Mobile-Ari work for me they had excellent chances with their leaders. But ok, Boitel once again. Then the hills, nothing happens, which is bad for me I thought... not sure if it was... drop 2 Alks, then Ari continues... Km 151 then the great Ari coup. Sieb, he has 5 in front, a few others, a Dream Riders group with Qian a few sec back, they come back. In the back Karli and co manage to get back to a chasing Alk. 158 Karli fighting like the anarchist that he is stays on after a Hidalgo sieb, last 6 at 165, and of course he is dropped. But. only 10" behind Trueba and his Alkis. Together with him: Piad from Erz... Plus Wassiss, Duculescu, Uzielli, unfortunately not Feng, not really sure why he was dropped by Wassissi, (who had been dropped like some others at 158) while Ducu stayed on... Berlogea drops, Erz has 2 riders. Might get him back. Not sure where exactly Falke was, a bit too far back maybe, but in restrospect probably should have waited. But then how much will he help with a 89 against a 92? Will he drop Kasendi? No, would be stupid, too much sprint to drop him. Too bad FL wasn't there.. ok, maybe the race would have gone differently, probably, but still, FL would have increased our chances. Or Riders riding for sprint, unfortunately he didn't. So, 10", against Vargas-Gardel-Zapata-Hidalgo. In front Dream isn't fighting... Obasi dropped. The KArli-Trueba chase: Lose a few sec early, Vargas strong... stays under 15", but then NoPik already starts helping... 84 sprint with less energy vs 90... a bit too early for my taste... Ok, he had small chances to win, but actually think he had better ones if Karli and Piad came back. Then from 90-84-80-75-75 it goes to 92-90-90-84... while with 90-84... it's fairly clear that Trueba will follow one of the 75 or Karatek and maybe have Gardel or Vargas as a safety somewhere, with 92-90-90 chances are those 3 follow each other... But ok, if one decides to follow NoPik he has no chances as well, true... but for Karli that would mean losing his 2 point advantage, at least partly... but well... he decided to ride early. Which obviously I didn't like.. he has chances, in the Trueba-Azizi-Karatek-Cutunio-Obasi constellation. And help ok... but that early? Considering that I (ok, maybe not ultraobjective here) think his chances with Karli and Piad were not worse, maybe even slightly better? To win, for a top 3 place of course worse... Anyway, be it as it may, NoPik helps early, a difficult job for my 4 tempo stars in the back became impossible. If Alk doesn't get help early, then maybe we can get back, he then has to decide if he risks killing Gardel early without guarantee to get help or if he doesn't and maybe get's caught... In front: 4 Aris, Cutunio 75 sprint.. .can't work. In retrospect what we should have done is: or Ari better. Drop Cutunio and Nanni, then everybody in. Morani 61-Capaul 58, Verhouten 50, Qian 49... then all in, Morani maybe 2-3 Km earlier. Then... .I and Verhouten can hope that Capaul and Verhouten hang on each other and get it with an early sprint... well, hope the other one sprints early... would have worked in that situation, but I really need 2' tact sometimes.. ah, mintact, think should have been even earlier, only at km 164... RKL fucked up it seems. 150 or so, much better. Anyway, while Ari talked about something like that, I didn't really have the time to think it over somehow... ok, he didn't mention Nanni who would have had to drop in that situation, only Cutunio.. but well.. so the Alk-NoPik group came closer every km, just a little bit, then in the last km with T-Mobile help got us easily. Sprint, Alk with a clear win, azizi and Karatek 2-3. All worked perfectly for Alk finally, if Dream isn't dropped in front with his helpers and Obasi the great Ari sieb probably works, they won't come back in the back. If NoPik doesn't work that early, then there is a chance that Karli comes back (and Trueba might still have won..). Still he did everything right of course. Good race, good winner, yep, good race, despite not being really ecstatic with some of the pro Trueba tempo thought it was intereting, basically enjoyed it, and seeing that a sprint with Karli was possible pleases me too, that it didn't really happen is a detail, who cares about details, got to look at the big picture.

No Vuelta again next year, Conti wants to win Veneto.

Next, Romagna! Have to think of a tactic now.

Bah... But the race was fun. Good group, stronger than I had expected. An early group went, never a danger. Then at km 132 the real race starts. Double attack by Topsport, Hewitt and Alec Gunn. IN the back nobody reacts, which suprised me a bit, but was ok too. The problem for Top.. too alone. Even if he has 3' at the top of the last mountain, difficult to hold on to the end, just too alone. Km 150 than the Robyplan starts. Sieb with Buonarroti, a 6 Berlogea and Qian fight, stay on, many don't as expected and fall off. unfortunately maybe too many, a few more would have been nice, was hoping to be able to keep both Berlo and Qian fit for longer. So finally had Qian ride the flat parts. 163, Buonarroti still to strong, had hoped to weaken him enough before, so he siebs away almost everybody. only Roy Jones, Septimiu and Pinero Diaz left over, 2 Ninjas, 1 with 6x sprint, and 2 MCworld, 1 with 6x sprint dropped. There should have waited, but they weren't riding.. .they need to ride in that situation, then I can wait, but if they don't ride? So 4 left in front, plus Topsport from his attack... next down, then flat.. Septimiu with a big fighting MOnte Trebbio weekend.. my idea: all in tempo at 176 and together until Monte Carla. Then? Ok, Septimiu will take some breaks.then hope no attacks and try to win the sprint with Ivan... but others had other ideas.. .so no real cooperation. So finally 24+32, but well, the race was fun and interesting.
