December Tour 2025 - Rules & Discussion

Post by cataracs » Sat Sep 06, 2025 2:26 pm

It's time for our yearly competition for the December Tour.

Designers submit their tours, managers vote in the forum, the winning Tour will be ridden as catgory 3 tour in December. And the runner up as a shortened January Tour, cat 2, in January.

The rules are basically like usual but without any limitation of riders:

-Length: 10-14 days: Maximum 13 days riding. (That means you can do a 13 day tour without rest day or a 14 day tour with 1 rest day)
-No extreme tour, extreme as in unbalanced towards one speciality, flat, pavé, mountains TT etc.
-1 tour per designer
-Maximum 1 day with half stages.
-Tours are posted from October 1st to October 31st.

Tour will be posted in a separate thread that I will open later. This thread here is for the rules, criticism of the rules, discussion of the proposed tours later on. Promotion of tours welcome, criticism too, the more the better.

Everyone is welcome to participate, unless we get somebody winning twice in a row there's no need to ban anyone from designing.
Robyklebt wrote: so now the rule is: If you win twice in a row you are disqualified from participating. (This rule will hopefully one day revert to the old one, but only once we have more active managers/designers)
Voting procedure:
First round voting from the 2nd to the 9th November.

The number of votes a manager has depends on the number of tours submitted:
Number of submissions/2, then rounded down. That means:
1-3 tours=1 vote
4-5 tours=2 votes
6-7 tours=3 votes
8-9 tours=4 votes.
But capped at 4 votes, even if we get more than 9 tours the number of votes per manager won't increase.

Second roud from the 10th to the 20th, Normally the first 2 teams will advance to the second round. If it's very close, more might be in.

If there is a draw in the second round, the tour that got more votes in the first round wins. If there's still a draw I'll decide.

I like this contest idea. I want to design, but i am not able to play C4F from 20 december till 5 januari. Small chance i win because this will be my second design. But if i win i want to ride it ofcourse. So may the winner choose the date?
The chance i dont win is big: what are the chances my design will be on calendar later on? How big is the chance i spend a lot of time for nothing?

Easily, at the moment, the Dezember Tour ends at the 14. December.

December tour is always the first Monday of the month. This year it's on the 1st. So you can't choose the date but it's on the date you'd choose anyway  . Winner gets to choose a time though, so there's that.

It's not for nothing! If you don't win and end up second your tour will be in January. If not second, then still we can use your races as one day races if you'd like. So it's never a loss.

Is there anything against South America or even the Andes as long as the tour is not extreme? I am not sure I want to design this year, just curious.

I'm so excited about the voting..... from 0 proposals, what do I choose?

Edit: Ah, maybe some tours are ready but people don't know where to post it... just open the posting thread for them Taka!
Kraftsystemrevision! Include the distance!
Basics reform: Give blue a chance!
Don't punish bugusers. We all have to use bugs, since most of them are declared as "features"!
Got a carrot from FL. But they threaten to take it away now.

You're used to open the posting thread on October 1st, why would I change that? Be patient.

You can click on race editor then go to calendar preview and order by date, to get to see the details in game.

@Hoefs, you should add mintacts to your stages! And the name would look better if it includes the tour name before the name of the cities.

f.e. Vegas Tour ST1: Las Vegas Speedway

Your presentation is legal TDM, I'm not fan of presentations at all but it looks great, thanks for the effort.

You could've added your own jerseys if you wanted, but that could be more work lol.

Yes, if you design the jerseys, Gip should be able to implement them.

I know the work of designing a candidate and appreciate the work, but I am sceptical about the climate in two of the candidates. Can you please check this? While Las Vegas should be fine in December, the mountain passes are probably not. Over 3000 m is probably way too cold, and even the nearly 2000 m stages could be too much. To a lesser degree, this could also be true for Mexico. While the weather is probably fine down in the cities, the mountain passes could be critical. If you think it is fine, can you please explain it to me?

First feedback…

La Ruta Azteca:

Really nice and well balanced design. Early mountains to try some moves, short pave parts with a possible effect on gc, some possible sprints, good amount of ITT kms. Best profile so far.

La Volta de Tiquicia:

Also a very nice profile, also quite good balanced. A lot money on the road, makes it attractive for smaller teams. The best presentation ever makes it a 50:50 with Tuks tour imo.

Tour of Las Vegas:

Sorry that I have to say it, but I don’t like it at all. Just 10 stages is already quite short. 2 of the stages ITT, 4 flat stages…thats 60% boring stages. Than a stage with a pave part which is way to decisive imo. Still ok for your first try and still thanks for the effort.
