Question about the Dauphine.

On flamme rouge, there are no official profiles (Donkey sent me that : https://www.la-flamme-rouge.eu/maps/viewtrack/3305 but it is a fantasy one).
On the official website, the info I can have is only the profiles of stages and a useless video for design.
So, I can try to design it, but it won't be 100% accurate, and it will make me spend much more time on it than usual.
Should I still do it ? Or do we look for another option ?

I can help for TDF, but we might have a special thread for that !

Damn, fantasy....

But the real one should be somewhere on la flamme rouge. A while ago, either shortly before I designed the TdS or while I designed it, the Dauphiné was still in the race calendar. That one must have been the real one, so I think it is somewhere. Maybe Hansa can find it again, he seems to be good at finding these things.

Well I can't find it anywhere there. Maybe I need an account or look somewhere special.

In case they just removed it, and no one can find it, even Hansa; we should consider options :
- possible crappy design, as close as possible to true one (but will take ages to design)
- semi fantasy design (use the cities of start and arrival and more or less the same distance, but can change the rest), at least will be more fun to design
- full fantasy design( time to make an extra fast competition ? or not ?)
- old design we use again (from many years ago, so it looks new ?)
- other ideas ?

Can't find it either....

1) wait for Hansa! He found other stuff. I hope that wasn't fantasy, dammit.
2) Wait for tomorrow. Read somewhere that tomorrow there's a UCI meeting to decide more about the calendar... Dauphiné officially isn't postponed yet, maybe the french lobby is strong enough to find a place for it, then maybe la flamme rouge updates it and it reappears. (But the TdF is still on in July there)
3) see what we do for the TdS, which is undecided at this moment. Cancelled for sure, they announced they want to keep the profile for 2021. If we go for real profile TdS, then we should go for as real as possible for Dauphiné too. Regardless of postponement or cancellation. The map video seems a pain, but on the other hand profiles are on, so should be somehow designable. No need to do it alone, just assign me one or 2 stages if necessary. Or 3, 4... whatever. If we go for something else for the TdS, then something else for Dauphiné too, but we should be consistent about it.

Do we need now a Fantasy Tour de Suisse? I would design one if needed in the next few days. Or we can do a vote if somebody else also wants to design one.

Ah, yes, forgot about that, the decision what to do with races like the TdS that are:
a) sure to be cancelled this year in reality
b) will use the same parcours next year. (if possible, but likely they'll manage to do that)

Use the same route twice? 2020+2021?
Make it fantasy 2020?
Use an old route for this year?

I don't like the last option really.... other 2 I can live with much more easily.
Would probably prefer fantasy problem with that is that then we might have to figure out lots of times what an organizer plans with the 2020 parcours, re-use it 2021? Most of the cycling calendar will be off this year anyway.. And often, as with the Dauphiné, a decision might take time, I don't think they'll ride it this year, (just my guess), but so far seems postponed only... Decision whenever... so even if we decide on: Fantasy for cancelled races that plan to reuse the parcours for 2021 (and if we do that I would regard it as a general policy that counts for all races in that case) in the end we might end up with a mixed thing.

im for we ride the real 2020 and if its identical next year we ride it again. teams will change enough in 1 year so it still will be interesing and maybe they still do little changes in the course

I am totally indifferent what TdS profile we ride. But a few thoughts on different options, nevertheless (can be taken for other tours cancelled in 2020 as well maybe):

- If we ride the original 2020 version, like Hansa I would prefer to ride the correct version for 2021 too, no matter if it is completely the same parcours. I also think that there will be enough variation because different teams, different groups, general forgetting things in one year, etc.

- If we ride a fantasy version, to make it easy for the designers, we could just take either an old profile, f.e. the one 10 years ago, or we could take stages from different editions and put them together for a "new" versoin.

- If somebody has enough free time and whats to design a total new TdS for 2020, I'd say: feel free! Maybe this could even be a contest? (If it's not too much hustle for the calender guys).
I didn't mean to say it. But I meant what I said.

2021 the parcours that will be ridden then IMO is not even up for discussion. That's too clear. We're not going to ride a fantasy race parallel to a real race that is actually being ridden.

If fantasy I'm for the easy version, no contest, just assign somebody :D Then the designer can do the best most realistic tour he can without having to worry about doing work for nothing etc. Old profiles bah, doesn't make for a logic tour necessarily, if you mix it. If not the 2020 version that will be ridden in 2021 again, I'm clearly for just an assigned fantasy designer. But I think it will be the 2020+2021 version.... after all the fantasy proposal would need a clear majority here.

Well, if somebody really wants to design a fantasy TdS, that could be very interesting. So if that were the case, I would supporting that idea (although lazy me is not willing to design...).

Belgium Tour not ridden last year in rsf... 2019 profiles are still available. I think we should use them for this year rsf edition :-)

June TDF Stages are drafted. Subject to changes of course, but should be enough if anybody cares because of form settings for June.

Times:

1) TdF, in the TdF thread Gipfel mentioned 19-22 being better. Possibly or probably is... but having the same times for all GTs maybe not ideal too. 19-22 for Giro, really same for Tour good?
20-21 the "fucked times" with 4 editions. Don't see how we can do either with 4 editions really.
With 5 editions the evening would be 18-21-23
With 4 18/19-22
4 editions enough or risk 5?

2) Dauphiné and TdS: Right now 4 editions each. That could be too many... 3 editions each or 4 editions each like proposed better?

i would like 5 for tour de france. we have some teams right now i guess participations at tdf wont be bad.

for editions for tds is much with belgique parallel too soo idk. 3 for both and also 3 for belgique also doesnt sound perfect.

I just leave my opinion against 23h here. Just too late for a tour of 3 weeks. One-day-races OK! Small tours also still acceptable at times. But who wants to ride a tour of 3 weeks soo late?

Not too long ago 23h was a pretty normal time and even 24h happened often. Some players seemed to like it, especially in the summer when people tend to stay awake longer. I think that's still valid but many 23h players have changed. Aux and his multies disappeared, Coro plays less often, free team normally plays no tours, Idefix also more in favor 22h and short mintact. Personally, I also prefer 21h/22h when I play in the evening. Maybe we are getting old? :D

That brings me to another proposal: 10-14-18-20-22 if 5 editions. We had that in the past, for example Giro 2019. As people return to normal life I also guess evening will become stronger again. Less people work from home or not allowed to work, so they will change from afternoon to evening again perhaps.

But I'm also OK with 4 editions 10-14-19-22. Just 18-22 sounds like a large gap. 20/21 was always a good time, too...

... difficult decision again. I should maybe stop commenting too much and let Roby do his magic....
