In-game polls / voting

Post by Alkworld » Mon Dec 08, 2025 8:07 pm

Hi all,

I was previously working on an in-game voting system to replace the polls done here in the forum. The idea is that an in-game voting system will be more visible to everyone, more flexible, more reliable and harder to manipulate:
- ongoing polls are shown on the Home screen, some could even automatically open on login
- voting only for registered players (anonymous or not is configurable)
- trying to include all features from forum votes
- additional restrictions are possible (e.g. only users with X races)

A first version is available on the C4F test server https://cycling4freaks.de/c4f-3.0-test/c4f-react/, login with your account details from one month ago (in case you changed user name or password). Publishing polls requires an admin, but if some of you want to test, I can assign admin rights on the test environment.
Feedback of any kind is very welcome, as it's still work in progress!

Already fixed a few bugs now, thanks for testing and providing feedback. Here are some answers:
what's the point of multiple questions in one poll? It complicates things
That's up to the creator of a poll, you can have only one question or multiple. I can sure think of cases where multiple questions make sense. E.g. something like the "rider of the year" awards we had in the past.
Why it is not possible to just start the poll from the home screen? Why do i have to click on "All polls" instead of just click on the poll i want?
That's implemented in the latest version 3.9.3.
If there are other things you're missing, feel free to share, most things here are not that difficult to implement. Even better, there's no old code to be messed up, like when working on the sprint.
