Team Lidwinia leader Tofilau Talake is rushed to the mental hospital on Pukasavilivili to be treated for a sudden mental illness. The number 4 of last week's Tuvaluan championships has a mysterious disease causing him to act bizarrely to say the least.
"It all started during the first stage of the Dauphiné where Talake was in the lead group," team manager L. Winia explained. "I think it was 2 or 3 kilometers from the finish when a flight companion offered him a drink, which he accepted." As we all saw on television, Talake stopped to change his underwear with just 1200 meter to go, allowing the said flight companion to take the victory and the leader jersey. The question is: what was in the drink?
Sadly, Team Lidwinia scientists were not able to salvage the bottle as it exploded just after hitting the ground, but they expect the recent behaviour by the Tuvaluan escapist pur lang has to be caused by whatever it contained. "It might contain C12H22O11 or even rabbit food. We don't know," according to a scientists who admitted that without research anything is as likely as anyhing else.
Whatever it may be, Winia insists it has nothing whatsoever to do with what Talake said on the birthday party of his brother Nolalu. "I do not think that saying 'Happy birthday' will have an effect on his behaviour. I think we should focus on the bottle." Nolalu Talake also denies any involvement, but he points to his brother Leonu, who had sex with Nolalu's girlfriend, three months ago.
Because of the mental problems of Talake, the best Tuvaluan team decided to withdraw from the Tour de France. All riders except Jefta van Doorne are unwilling to ride. It is not sure how long Talake will remain in hospital. Sceptics say he will be gone by tomorrow and that this is all a joke and a "cry for attention by a pathetic manager," according an anonymous reporter.

Faust protest against incrimination
Sports After the incriminations of "Tuvalu Times", a newspaper from the Netherlands, Björn Fausts Team "Sfr. Erbach" invited to a press conference, to comment on the charge that Faust poisened Tofilau Talake at the end of the first stage of Dauphiné Liberé.
Wiesbaden (dpa). In the newspaper "Tuvalu Times" from June 30 2011, the false accusation of Tofilau Talake (25), a professional rider from Tuvalu, a little island north of New Zealand, were released. The charges are, that Björn Faust (29), winner of the first stage of Dauphiné, were giving a bottle to Talake for the last kilometers. After drinking out of this bottle, Tofilau could not manage to stay on his bike because of poison in this drink, and got second in the stage...
Björn Faust was horrified when he heard of this accusation: "Fact is that it was a hot day and we drove all the way alone. Talake did not drink enough in the last minutes, so i offered him my bottle. The deal was that he will get the stage, and me the yellow jersey!
But it was too late, he run dry and lost all of his power. I had to drive alone to the finish. That Talake blames me for his fault, althought i tried to be fair, is really egregious! "
The management did not want to give more information. G. Jung, Manager of Sfr. Erbach: "Björn Faust is a good rider and he had a brilliant day. I don't have to say more than this! There will not be any team-intern analysis. Faust will drive the Tour de France for us and we would be happy if he could repeat such an effort!"
Whether there will be any researches into this incident by the UCI, is not decided yet.

Tuvalu Times wrote:'Talake misquoted'
FUNAFUTI - Tofilau Talake has been released from mental hospital this morning to find out about the rumours concerning his mental health. In the Tuvalu Times, he reacts, just minutes before the start of the Tour of Austria.
"Obviously, I have been misquoted by journalists," he says, referring to Tauki Teafu, the reporter that brought the article earlier week, who also happens to have a giant prorcelain Socca statue that he does not want to be crushed. "We all saw that I did not change my underware during the race. I never do! [during races, Ed.] Now it seems like I'm blaming Faust of putting anything in my drink, but as far as I know, he didn't.
About his episode in the mental hospital, Talake does not have a lot of words, except a tiny referral to recent news about a serial killer on the loose. "They checked me at random and I didn't appear to have anything to do with those murders. In fact, I don't eat live organs!"
When asked about the Tour of Austria, Talake said he was planning to ride it. "The course suits me. I'm sure I can show something again and maybe get a win at last!"

VICTORY!!! Quite unexpected, because the race was not under control. At the beginning, some attacks left me with no choice but using Haumiatiketike to close gaps. Halfway, two 9% hills brought my team in trouble. Rongomatane was the only one in front and Itimaroroa, Malielegaoi and Haumiatiketike were dropped from the chasing pack with the sprinters. Luckily, Lidwinia got help from a couple of sprinter teams and Dakuwanga was best in the sprint.

Too hard a climb for my riders. Dakuwanga was with the leaders at the bottom of the group and lost 15 minutes. In the beginning, Abdolnaghad and Talake were in the group, but when it was clear that the peloton wanted to get them before halfway, Talake took off on his own, taking some mountain points and money. Quickly after, he was caught and it was all waiting for the climb where the field fell apart. Rongomatane is 11th in the GC.

Such a day with a lot of climbs where riders can not win the tour, but they can lose it. A couple of groups without Lidwinia riders went astray, but were caught and it was all a waiting game. In the end, there was a little climb where some pure climbers dropped the pack. Rongomatane had to do all the word and got within 21 seconds, only one rider bridged across en won solo. Riongomatane is now 7th.

With his second win, Dakuwanga is nog just as legendary as the Great Ricardo Trevisan. This was a nice race with a seconds race for the GC, involving Rongomatane (who won time to all but the yellow jersey, who was ex aequo). With a hill at the last part of the race, somehow Dakuwanga as in the first group with Rongomatane en Talake where Hiralal was dropped. In the end, he got the right wheel and won his second. Green is interresting again, but yellow is priority.

Another victory! What a week in Austria. A hectic race again where Lidwinia tried to make it hard for the yellow jersey to control. But some teams aimed for a sprint and that stopped me from attacking with Rongomatane, really. He lost a few seconds in the sprint, but is still 6th, 2 minutes back with a time trial to come. And Dakuwanga is in green with 3 stage victories. Pretty ok!

Alright, while Rongomatane was the big winner in the GC, he climbed from 6th to... second. Jean Lagarde still has 41 seconds and that is going to be tough tomorrow. Still, very pleased with the Tour so far. Another stage win could be the icing on the cake tomorrow. Especially if Rongomatane will do the impossible But I think my money should be on Dakuwanga. Green is a nice prize and Daku has to protect 3 points.

No fourth victory for Dakuwanga, Rongomatane remained second, but it was very successful with 3 stages, the green jersey and a good classement for Rongomatane. There was an attack with Haumiatiketike that never got a lot of time, but was dangerous nonetheless with a GC-guy. In the end, Abdolnaghad went with two others and got close, but it was a sprint.

Nice race that got 100% of its color from one rider. Amrish Hiralal went solo from km 2 and was caught back at 198. Halfway, he was joined by two others, which he dropped. In the end, he got caught by a new lead group that was finally caught by the peloton. Nothing much happened afterwards, except in preparation of the sprint where Dakuwanga was knocked off a wheel by irregular sprinting of an opponent. After 3 victories and a podium place last week, now he's 10th. Itimaroroa was dropped uphill after bringing Dakuwanga back after another climb.

Re: Team Lidwinia - The Pride of Polynesia
Tuvalu Times wrote:Abdolnaghad and Van Doorne out, two youngsters in
FUNAFUTI - After the very successful Tour of Austria, Team Lidwinia management decided on some changes in the roster. Old warrior Majhid Abdolnaghad (34) had indicated his wish to retired and got it honoured after yesterday's race where he said his goodbye. Younger rider Jefta van Doorne (27) was fired for repeatedly acting annoyingly in the team bus. After several warnings, he continued to put helmets on his team mates' heads upside down, while they were asleep. He also got a fine by team management in march because of an incident involving the release of over 4000 mosquitoes in Sopoanga's hotel room and barring the door with a vintage cupboard that got severely damaged in the incident.
To replace the duo, Lidwinia decided to buy two young riders from Tuvalu. Both are scouted for their versatility and expectations to grow into good riders. Their names:
Fakatoafe Teikauea (23) is a rouleur that is well known for his downhill skills. In 2011, the youngster won over 20 races at the youth level, including the Great Downhill Race on the Maladives. Several teams including NoPikouze and Socca Team tried to hire him, but both surrendered their bids under suspect circumstances. At Team Lidwinia, Teikauea will take up a role as helper for the first period, possibly to get a higher status. Interesting fact is that he insists on his name being pronounced properly.
Rahi "The Cobra" Kahausibware (22) is the new kid on the block at Tuvaluan cycling. He joined the team for a lost bet concerning Foppe de Haan, its details not being revealed. While his talent is great, he is known for his temperament. He will be a helper at his best in slightly hilly races.
Both riders will feature in Team Lidwinias team for the Chester Cycling Cup where Team Lidwinia will field an all-Tuvaluan team for the first time in its history. The entire team will be:
71. Foukimoana Rongomatane
72. Pekahau Haumiatiketike
73. Naingimea Itimaroroa
74. Rahi Kahausibware
75. Malietoa Malielegaoi
76. Toakai Sopoanga
77. Tofilau Talake

Re: Team Lidwinia - The Pride of Polynesia
I have to deny, the team was never interested by this Mr Teikauea. We don't have scouts in Tuvalu. Ok, perhaps if they are on vacation, I don't know...
Next time, this kind of rumours could bring you into a courtroom.

A sprinter with an idea of life

Iti Dakuwanga is turning into a legend after joining local cycling team Team Lidwinia a couple of weeks ago. Many skeptics thought the Tuvaluan was unable to live up to the expectations that were there when Martin Kleuskens left after being extremely successful with a victory and a sprint jersey in California. The first races, including the Tuvaluan championships, were not impressive for Dakuwanga. The skeptics wrote "KLEUSKENS" on the team bus and manager L. Winia's home with faeces. Though this was gross, they did have a point, because Dakuwanga was struggling.
"The great Winia, ruler of the four corners of the world, may he be ever joyful and happy in the companionship of two or three dozens of pretty Polynesian virgins, who give him strong sons and beautiful daughters and who work the fertile fields so that Winia, our lord and master, is able to play computer games all the time, that guy gave me a little more time," said Dakuwanga. While the results stayed away, the visionary team manager never considered dropping the sprinter. And Dakuwanga repayed at the Tour of Austria, where he got 3 stages and the green jersey. This made Dakuwanga the most successful rider in Lidwinia's history.
"If you listen to Dakuwanga, just listen to him," Lid Winia explains, "you hear the commitment in his voice. He has his own epic way of saying things, but when you get used to that, you find a great team player." A great team playes and a good sprinter. Rumour goes that he hardly ever keeps the toilet seat down when he has to pee, making sure he does not get it wet and dirty, much to the joy of his team mates.
Today, Dakuwanga is not in the line-up for Mikkeli Circuit, but he does not mind. "In his eternal glorious mind, it suited our lord Winia to leave me at home to mind my petty business. Such vision is incredible and it shows once again that our leader does not have and negative characteristics, nor neutral ones. He is perfect!" The team will be focussed on the breakaways with several riders with a free role. "Iti is a sprinter," according to Winia, "and this is not a real sprinter's race. We expect that he will not be able to contest for victory, so we'll keep him fresh for later. Besides, we're planning media training for him."
Iti Dakuwanga wanted to say something else, but he did not get a chance. After he was pushed inside the team bus, two minutes later Naingimea Itimaroroa said to the press: "Iti is happy to be here."
