Hi!
I got a mail from the NC comittee about my rider Rob Plakka. I'm still figuring things out so sorry if I post the wrong stuff or in the wrong places. I'm happy to coöperate on this though
. Rob is a common Belgian/Dutch name. Plakka is not a common last name, just a random name that popped up in my head, though now that I think about it there was a player in the Belgian football league named 'Placca' a couple of years ago
. Anyways, let me know what I can do to solve this case!

Hey
For not so common names its always usefull to provide a link to an existing person with that name if you have one. You can put that in the additional information box of every rider.
With random names like Plakka on the other hand we have to decide if its a plausible or believable name for the specific nation.
But in this case i think its acceptable for a belgium name and the person handling the case saw it like that too it seems

Ramon Miller is a Bahamian sprinter who specializes in the 400 meters. Born on February 17, 1987, he was part of the Bahamas' gold medal-winning 4x400 meter relay team at the 2012 London Olympics. Miller ran the anchor leg in the final, overtaking Angelo Taylor of the USA to secure victory for the Bahamas.
He also won a silver medal in the 4x400m relay at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Throughout his career, Miller was a key figure in Bahamian sprinting, contributing to multiple international relay successes.
Should be clear, right?

Re: Nationenkomitee / Nations Committee
Hi,
today the nationality of my rider "Taco Havana" for Cuba was revoked.
About the firstname I fully though that Taco is a fully hispanic name cause of this source:
https://babynames.com/name/taco
https://www.ancestry.com/first-name-mea ... 67260461dd
But I saw now that its mainly used in the Netherlands ^^
Havana is also not really a surname, but I thought its plausible as its just spanish for "harbor" and the capital city of Cuba as well.
Its not uncommon for spanish surnames to describe an object f.e. "Estrada" = road, "Costa" = coast, "Montana" = mountain, "Castillo" = castle, etc.)
In the message I got is states "You may choose a new nationality for your rider on the Team page." -> but I cannot do that in Team page and clicking on the rider.
Would it have been accepted if had put the Netherlands as country?
Please let me know if there is anything I can do. I would really like to avoid having a rider w/o nation ^^
Sorry for the circumstances
Cheers

Re: Nationenkomitee / Nations Committee
the problem here is not his first name drunken. thats totally fine. its his last name havana that like you said isnt really a surname ..at least not in cuba. and lets be honest the name taco havana is kind of a joke name like a lot of your riders are
but its not a problem if its at least plausible. i initially would have chosen unrealistic. but i found sources of a few people in finnland having the last name havana ..hich i couldnt find for cuba at all. so making him a finnish rider would be fine i think.

Oh, thanks for the clarification. I would be fine to change his nationality to Finland.Servicio Médico wrote: ↑Fri Apr 11, 2025 11:28 amthe problem here is not his first name drunken. thats totally fine. its his last name havana that like you said isnt really a surname ..at least not in cuba. and lets be honest the name taco havana is kind of a joke name like a lot of your riders arebut its not a problem if its at least plausible. i initially would have chosen unrealistic. but i found sources of a few people in finnland having the last name havana ..hich i couldnt find for cuba at all. so making him a finnish rider would be fine i think.

Is there a way to get the nation changed for this rider?
Sorry for the inconvenience

Re: Nationenkomitee / Nations Committee
Dear Nations Comitee,
I don't know what nationality you would suggest for my rider Hnevsa Ricka (Hněvsa Říčka). Říčka is a common Czech surname meaning small river. Hněvsa is an old Czech first name. For example, it was the name of one of the probable murderers of St. Wenceslas. However, I don't insist on a nationality, and I'll accept any you assign me.

Dear chelloz,
Thank you for those more detailed information. To be honest it was hard to find any information about the name Hněvsa. There were some hits for this name as last name but with the additional info I got more results that helped a lot to approve the name.
Have a good day and see you in some races

Re: Nationenkomitee / Nations Committee
I deliberately give riders old Czech names to distinguish them from the others. I assumed that was a good thing. The truth is that some are not used much nowadays like Kojata, Ojíř, Břetislav, Boleslav etc.

Re: Nationenkomitee / Nations Committee
Hello:
I received a message informing me that my rider Azzurro Montagna has lost his nationality (IT) because the nationality committee believes the name is unrealistic.
I agree with the decision, but when I bought the rider on the market, he already had that name, and I didn't think it would be a problem.
However, I don't like the idea of having a stateless rider and/or one with an unrealistic name.
I propose, if the Nations Committee agrees, maintaining the rider's Italian nationality by changing his name to Alessio Montano, which I understand meets all the requirements for approval.
Waiting for your decision on this matter, best regards.

Hi! Unfortunately, the NC Committee can't change the rider names. Please ask one of the admins (Gipfelstuermer, AAD or Alkworld) to do so, beat via PM.vicmafraigar wrote: ↑Sat May 17, 2025 7:13 pmHello:

Re: Nationenkomitee / Nations Committee
Just bought the rider Arthur Rice. Is it possible to give him a new name and nationality?
Re: Nationenkomitee / Nations Committee
Not a complaint, but an information for the active members of the NC. Please don't confuse Luxembourg names with Liechtenstein names. In the Liechtenstein NC, there are at least two riders with clear Luxembourg names (you find them in Wikipedia, etc.) that don't exist as Liechtenstein names nor sound realistic as Liechtenstein names. Thanks for being more vigilant about that in the future.
I didn't mean to say it. But I meant what I said.

Hi FL, thanks for the hint! Can you tell me which names you mean? One should be Patricia Vidoni (I think), and the other? Re: Nationenkomitee / Nations Committee
Please don't take their nationality away. These rider have already gotten it for a certain period, so it's fine I think. Don't want to make it more important than it is anyway. But just for the protocol:Chemnitz Pro Cycling Team wrote: ↑Thu Jun 26, 2025 9:15 amHi FL, thanks for the hint! Can you tell me which names you mean? Patricia Vidoni I can't tell much about. Vidoni seems to be an Italian name. Can't find the name for Liechtenstein, but there is an Italian diaspora in Liechtenstein.
Anyway, if you need more info about Liechtenstein names, there is a nice database that can be found here: https://www.statistikportal.li/de/theme ... iliennamen
