Hi,
Warum ist Martin Garrix ein clone?
Ist der Künstlername, klar. Aber sollte doch okay sein.
Grüße
§ 2 Prohibited Names
(1) Nicknames, artist names (e.g. „Avicii“) or fantasy names (e.g. „Darth Vader“) are not allowed. Riders with such names will be made stateless.

Wenn du seinen originalen Namen verwendet hättest, wäre er durchgekommen.
Where do you draw the line here? There are lots of artists, who use slightly changed names (like the mentioned one), sometimes just for practical reasons, which still sound like normal names. Barely anybody then knows the real name. Not sure, if this is the goal of having the NC, which as far as I remember is mainly to have less rubbish names. Martin even has his Wikipedia page under this name.
Come on, everyone knows him under that name... And it sounds clearly normal!
The Name Garrix exist too, so where is the problem.
Can you please check it again?

If not, what solutions do we have? New name?
We will discuss it again.

After discussing the case again, we can't find a strong support to give Garrix a nationality, se he stays nationless.

Main reasons:
- it's an artist name, not his real one (see the rules)
- we couldn't find the name as a real name on different databases, just one person with this name in Thailand

Thanks for explaining. I saw the message in the NC chat as well, so no need for further action in the forum. :)

Hi, I think you chose the wrong nation as his current passport says he's from Hungary. We will give you the opportunity to change it.

Hey guys,

about my rider Theodor Weinzierl, CZE

It says "wrong nation" though there is still the flag from the Czech Republic present in the team overview. Does this mean that the NC process is not finished yet?

Theodor Weinzierl was born in a city that is now within the borders of the Czech Republik, he was an Austrian by the means of the Austrian Empire and he also lived and worked in Vienna. So if you are not happy with the Czech passport, please give him the Austrian one (not German). I guess it is still in your hands or can I do anything about it now?

Hi,
you are / were right. There was no final confirmation but it's done now. You are now free to choose the nation and we will check it, again. Thats the process for 'wrong nation'.

As you mentioned he was born in a city which was part of the Austrian Empire back then and he was austrian citizen. So i think we can agree on that.

I cannot chose a new nation. Where should I find this option?

I think I forgot to confirm the case. My bad, sorry for the confusion.
You should have received a message about the wrong nation now. Usually the change can should be on the riders page.

Hey Linn,
we did and I also expected your search pattern (e.g. iaw forebearers).

The problem for me is that there is https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_Tomlinson https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_Tomlinson a very famous US citizen with that name.

So after a discussion we decided to suggest you to use his origin and make him a citizen of the United States or perhaps alter his firstname to another common jamaican name (for that change, i think Gipfel needs to do that).

I'm sorry about the circumstances, wish you a nice weekend @@@@

Sorry boys

I have named Fabiano Cancellino one of my guys and i completely forgot the rules about “not reference real name”.

Could i have 1 chance to change the surname?

I’m really sorry about it, it was something i write fast without thinking.

Thanks!

Hi RadioShanks, please write Gip a PM. The NC can not decide it.

Reference to real names are allowed (there is no rule against it), real names are allowed, realistic names are allowed. Problem is to make clones. Fabian Cancellara is the real name, Fabiano Cancellara would be a clone, Fabian Canccelara etc. you get it, but is Fabiano Cancellino a clone? If the name Cancellino exists (which I don't know) it is ok imo, if it doesn't exist, is it realistic? Well sounds Italien to me, deepl says it means something like rubber in Italian. So I really like the name.
Please keep it and give him the pass!

don't know about more, but it is Italian as well for sure: https://www.italiangenealogy.blog/third ... n-surname/

for the German speaking crowd: read the whole article and the family names in the end...
I didn't mean to say it. But I meant what I said.

Just wanted to know the reason for the dismiss, as RadioShanks assumption was that it was rejected because of the "no clone" rule.
(2) It’s not allowed to alter names of real existing celebrities (sports, politics, music, films, etc.) either by adding, deleting or changing letters (e.g. "Wout VanArt" or "Matthieu VanDerPoel").
The rule is very much debatable for this specific case. You can get any name you like by adding or changing letters of any other name (how many changes do I need to do? Is Bernhard Kohlmeier not allowed? Is Bernhard Köhlmeier better? Or are these clones of Bernhard Kohl? Both last names are common names in Austria, Bernhard is like a top20 first name for male guys in Austria.
