Hi Freaks!
As I'm a big fan of awards and I saw, that many people like it in the gamechats, i wanna think with everybody about possible awards.
Not only climber/sprinter/classic/team of the year, they should be funny.

My first idea is "Influencer of the year" - for people who always bring other to ride for them.

Ideas from Bahrain in the chat: Escaper of the year, Fighter in senceless situations.

Tell me your wishes.

I am also a big of the RSF/C4F Awards. Always liked the polls.

Let's make a list:

1) Rider of the year
2) Team of the year
3) Climber of the year
4) Sprinter of the year
5) Classic rider of the year
6) Pavé rider of the year
7) Youth rider of the year
8) Escape rider of the year
9) Rider name of the year
10) TT specialist of the year
...


"Influencers" shouldnt get any award imo.

I think something like 10-12 categories will be enough already. In the past it was more like 5-6 awards and if you have 100 categories, you can just give every active team an award...

The influencer thing... funny at first sight... if it works, it can be a bit like the Golden Raspberry Awards... but if it's bad, it can also turn out to be straight out bullying of whoever gets awarded.

Instead you can have a Fairplay Award perhaps.

Other than that, maybe nominations until Dec 31? Voting starts Jan 1? Somebody will have to do a pre-selection of the 5(?) best nominees per category, however. Because some nominations might be senseless or some categories might not even have 5 nominees.

Love the idea. We should start right away before our memories fade away from 2020.

Gip is right with his points. Too many categories would be too much.

My idea additions:
Race/Tour of the year
New team / Comeback of the year
Underdog/overperformer of the year ( guys with regular skills - overperforming)

I think if you go with the following awards it would be enough.

Team of the year
Sprinter of the year
Climber of the year
Classic of the year
TT of the year

If you begin with this for this year and you can starts from jan to put some other points to it. And allready make a list for nominations over the year. If X has a good 4 months in the beginning of the year he can be nominated so we dont forget him or her.

I think this would be a good mix for the start. As kunske mentioned, next season it would be better to collect contenders all over the year.

In the very distant past we used to have a special voting system for the most important award, rider of the year.
Not nominations and a poll, but voters write down their top 5 in order and then its counted 5-1 points. And the the winner is Fontaine

I like the idea of Mr. Klebt. We should just open a thread for each category and everybody can bring up his candidates with points from 1 to 5. The guy/team with most points wins at the end.
This system is the one we can start instantly.

I still think it would also be nice to have some general categories like favorite race/tour of the year

Just as an idea. if a Rider wins rider of the year he cant win in his categorie too Maybe? otherwise one rider will most likely Always win his categorie if he wins rider of the year too

2.) How many riders can somebody nominate?
