Not sure how many things changed about the sprint system since it was involved, but it still is frustrating most of the time...
My idea is to reduce the length to only 5 steps instead of 10, placements at 500 based only on flat value, then 400, 300, 200 and 100.
this would limit the random sprints that end up with a 78 that escaped all day winning. It would also kill the 3x 80 sprinters teams. And it's good for small group sprints, where the top sprinter usually has to worry about the rest too much. And it would reduce the chances of getting stuck.
On other points about the sprint:
30 sec instead of a minute aswell, since sprint in reality is based on fast decisions, 30 sec should have been implemented long ago already. 1minute is too long and make the races even longer.
To deal with sprint tricks, take off the "lose" thing and make wheel switching possible only to riders that are infront of the rider.
I have more to add, but later.

Re: Sprint Changes
Following in sprints is a very special topic imo. I would even say it should be possible to follow the rider in front of you and still follow a guy from behind (with an extra reduce of energy if the rider can follow). Because... if a rider is in a train and and a faster rider goes by, every rider in reallife would at least try to follow and not just wait behind his teammate because he was told to follow the teammate.
Maybe this would help strong trains even more, but the situation now is not realistic. Plus, this stopping / trick sprint by surprise would change. But maybe I forgot something because I dont have a devil on my shoulder.
The 30s sprint idea I actually like although I am very slow myself at some times.

Re: Sprint Changes
It is not really following, it is conditional sprinting. Is the other rider sprints, spring 10 m later instead of reacting 50 m later. But even this has limits if we just have position and not speed. As Alk has to rewrite the code we can go big and have extensive testing when he finally has time to think about sprinting.
Re: Sprint Changes
If you take away the 50m steps, our sprint system goes from super predictable to i-can-see-the-future predictable.
My biggest gripe with the sprint is predictability anyway.
But apart from random boni/mali like in the old system, I don't have any ideas
