Attacks on the last km
Already several times that it happens, but each time it surprises me.
Km: 177, Gradient: 7
Ricardo Rodriguez (Paris XX Racing) attacks
Santiago Ibanez (Rasmussenbank) is unable to follow
Km: 178, Gradient: 8
Santiago Ibanez (Rasmussenbank) attacks
Ricardo Rodriguez (Paris XX Racing) on "yes, alone", fights: yes
And I lost of course...
So how is it possible?
The tempo yes, alone simulates a rider doing wheeling on last km of a mountain stage ?

Re: Attacks on the last km
177 you attack, get away, but you lose +/-100 energy by attacking. So that energy is missing at km 178. Let's say before 177 you have 1000 attack, you have 890 before 178. Ibanez 1000 before 177, can't follow, -30?, 1 km tempo, -30? (not sure, but not more I think) -60, he has 940 before 178. So now he is stronger than you, he has 50 more energy.
Numbers just examples, but that's the principle.
Then yes alone. Irrelevant if you are alone. Has no effect whatsoever. Yes alone means: If you are in a group, you don't let anybody weaker than you in tempo. 5 man group, you are the 3rd strongest, you put yes alone, only 3 will be in tempo. (Unless the tempo is higher due to the mass bonus if all 5 make tempo) But yes alone doesn't make the tempo of your rider stronger. So when you are alone, it's the same as yes normal. (And yes with all, since you are alone....)
The only thing that gives you a boost is: Attack. But as I said above, it costs you more energy. Here probably by attacking a second time you would have stayed away, thanks to the attackboost.
So why did the other guy come back?
1) He had more energy.
2) You didn't attack a second time
Why did the other guy win:
1) You didn't sprint

Basics reform: Give blue a chance!
Don't punish bugusers. We all have to use bugs, since most of them are declared as "features"!
Got a carrot from FL. But they threaten to take it away now.

Re: Attacks on the last km
Ty, for the detail of your answer.
Mathematically, I can understand that.
But IRL that concept is weird for me.
I don't understand how a rider who cannot follow an attack and is weaker on mountain skill can catch up the other one the next km. My guy rides with the maximum of his ability, with red tempo.
So I should press the button attack.
But when a rider attacks, it's against someone, not against himself, right?
In this case, we should change the name by boost, nitro or something like that.

A bit strange maybe, but you should see it as someone who did a better management of his effort and who comes back with a sustainable tempo versus someone who does heavy attacks but then rides slower the next km.
Of course it's not perfect.
But it's also the only thing which makes mountain arrivals interesting

should have more effect long distant than just 2km, every climber can give his best for 2km of mountain. You hardly never see a rider who is dropped 2 km before the end and comes back on the last metersNoPikouze wrote:A bit strange maybe, but you should see it as someone who did a better management of his effort and who comes back with a sustainable tempo versus someone who does heavy attacks but then rides slower the next km.
