Palmares entry for World Tour

Post by Alkworld » Thu Jan 15, 2026 10:38 pm

In December Bugatti started a poll to ask the community, if the World Tour deserves a palmares entry and / or hall of fame entry.
Answer # Votes / Total Votes Votes % Total Voters Voters %
Hall of Fame 26 / 64 40.6% 26 / 47 55.3%
Palmares 27 / 64 42.2% 27 / 47 57.4%
nothing 11 / 64 17.2% 11 / 47 23.4%
Based on that result, I'd say that more than 75% voted to have at least one of both, while both palmares entry and hall of fame each got more than 50% of the votes. I have to think about how that can be implemented, as a palmares record is usually always linked to a race and behaviour might be weird, if it isn't, but I'll try to think of something.
One more question: Should the winner be selected based on weighted or total points?
And another one: Only rider palmares or also team palmares? And who'd get the entry in case of traded riders? Not sure, if that happened recently.

How is the team selected in the stats tab now? The best solution would be the team he made the most points for, if this is not too hard to implement.

Apart from the technical issues, palmares being race related is logic imo. Cannot we think about another, more creative way?

If it helps getting rid of the useless double rankings (weigthed/unweighted) go for it. About the rider issue. The team owning the rider at the end of the season gets it. Easy.

Overall I was voting against palmares and against hall of Fame. Can live with Hall of Fame but think palmares really is the wrong place. Just make another column in the teams ranking divisions next to division 1 wins with world tour wins. Solved

I would also prefer a separate section (Wasn't part of the Survey, I know)

For example let's make a tab with "Trophies/Jerseys". This could have all jerseys won in a riders career and also the trophies like World Tour winner, but it could also include something like "Rider of the Year" Award if that's a Voting we have. Etc. Pp. For trophies. This would also reward Schartner efforts to update all leader jerseys and it could be a nice graphical interpretation of a rider career.

I know this would require a few more tables in the database and a mechanism to store the jersey/trophy data.
My fellow cyclingfreaks: ask not what the game can do for you - ask what you can do for the game.
