Dropouts and withdrawals

Post by auxilium torino » Fri Jul 23, 2010 9:57 am

I find the difference between real cycling and RSF a bit extreme.

after 18 stage (only group 1)
RSF tour 10 hour:Cyclists out (time out):3 of 180
RSF tour 14 hour:Cyclists out (time out):4 of 145
RSF tour 18 hour:Cyclists out (time out):5 of 99
RSF tour 20 hour:Cyclists out (time out):4 of 145
RSF tour 22 hour:Cyclists out (time out):9 of 117( but 6 of Triple-T(ovo))

Real tour:
stage 1:1
stage 2:2
stage 3:2
stage 4:4
stage 5:0
stage 6:1
stage 7:0
stage 8:2
stage 9:0
stage 10:5
stage 11:0
stage 12:3
stage 13:2
stage 14:1
stage 15:0
stage 16:1
stage 17:2
stage 18:1

total:27 of 198

I think it would be more 'interesting if the fight to stay in the race was a bit more' difficult

I'm looking forward to Cerros reply
Kraftsystemrevision! Include the distance!
Basics reform: Give blue a chance!
Don't punish bugusers. We all have to use bugs, since most of them are declared as "features"!
Got a carrot from FL. But they threaten to take it away now.

In the real Tour many riders need to leave the race because they are injured and not because they didn't make the time limit. So I don't think we need to change something at the time limit, and introducing injuries wouldn't be that cool neither...

As Neutro said. We can't really compare the real TdF with the five RSF editions because of injuries. I don't think it's really important to change something concerning the time limit.

Robys only goal is to drop out BSE-riders, so he asks for a tightening of the time limit everytime he fails.
But this time it was quite narrow at the Pau-Stage. I feared to lose 8 riders. :O

Well, the short form:

Reasons in RSF to quit a tour:
reaching the finish after waiting period (= Karenzzeit) because of:
- much work the days before in combination with low reg and relativly low mountain skills
- very low mountain skills

Reasons to quit a tour in realitiy
reaching the finsih after waiting period because of:
- much work the days before
- low mountain skills
- illnesses
- injuries due to crashes
giving up because of:
- ilnesses
- injuries due to crashes
- no more goals to achieve
- possiple participations in other races

So what you see, there are many more reasons for riders to quit a tour in reality in comparison to RSF. Trying to get equal numbers of quits would mean an irrealistc cut of riders with weaker mountain skills (and from those especially those with lower regenaration), but never of good riders that leave a tour in reality as well.
