Le Tour de France 2018 21h

Post by Gipfelstuermer » Fri Jul 06, 2018 5:41 pm

Startlist leaked for Le Tour 2018

Cyclingleaks again claims to have stolen confidential data. This time it is about the "liste de partants" for Le Tour.

Five teams have been reported as sign-ups: Rasmussenbank, Gipfelstuermer, celteam, Speed-Razor and Team Alonso Cycle. Additionally, the Giro 20h teams are possible sign-ups: Pokemonogatari, Uhlsport, Fraegg, Team darsseul, Schappy, Fdgames, T-Vodafone, Confidential Era, Amateur team, team B and Team Trojer Vella.

Giro winner Yuigahama from #1 team Pokemonogatari would probably start as favo, but would face severe competition from #2 team Rasmussenbank and their star Apeldoorn. Uhlsport's Christie could also fight for GC, if his team and tactic have become stronger after the incredible defeat in Giro.

But is this line-up real? We will only see after the sign-up deadline tomorrow.

Apeldoorn afraid of Yuigahama and Yuigahama afraid of Apeldoorn!

Both leaders from Division 1 #1 and #2 teams reportedly admitted, they were afraid of the competition. Perhaps from eahh other or from incredible Gipfelstuermer team? Or was the cyclingleaks a fake leak? We will never know.

Bogis wins TTT - Advantage for Kruglov

Bogis Cycling Team seemed to dominate the first showdown of the favorites on stage 3's TTT. guciuzuza came very close at the end of the race but made a small mistake on km2 and thereyby lost by 11 seconds. Tour-Favorite Jonathan Christie even lost 31 seconds.

The GC with maillot jaune and the GC favorites:
Robert Iftimia (Bogis Cycling Team).......... 0:00
Dmitri Kruglov (Bogis Cycling Team)......... +13''
Piotrdebil Blaszczak (guciuzuza).............. +24''
Jonatan Christie (Uhlsport)..................... +44''
Orlando Oliveira (celteam)...................... +50''
Koen Amisten (Speed-Razor)..................... +1'13''
Fernando Alonso (Team Alonso Cycle).......... +1'14''
Pedro Pinheiro (Gipfelstuermer)................. +1'16''
Fabio Fonda (Gipfelstuermer).................... +1'16''
Thea Berger (Chartreuse Monks)................. +2'02''
Gerald Genepi (Chartreuse Monks)............... +2'02''
Jose Yacono (Crazy Vikings)........................ +2'09''

What does that mean for the upcoming stages? Iftimia is not likely to keep yellow for very long, but if it changes hands, Kruglov is likely to take it. Stage 4 could be interesting after the hard TTT. Stage 5 and 6 promise a bit more action because their last kilometers are not completely flat. Finally, before the first rest day, the Roubaix stage promises to be interesting.

Montesinos takes yellow in Roubaix - Kruglov keeps advantage

After the first week of Le Tour, Mateo Montesinos (Gipfelstuermer) is the surprise in yellow after a successful escape on stage 7 and a pavé specialist stage to Roubaix on stage 9:

The GC with maillot jaune and the GC favorites:
01. Mateo Montesinos (Gipfelstuermer)..........0:00
02. Asher Balcan (Bogis Cycling Team)........... +3'48''
03. Vincenzo Bennati (guciuzuza)................. +4'11''
04. Fabio Fonda (Gipfelstuermer)................. +4'27''
05. Denis Bihore (Speed-Razor).................... +4'48''
06. Giuseppe Genovese (Gipfelstuermer)........ +4'49''
07. Andres Araujo (Crazy Vikings).................. +5'38''
08. Jörg Müller (Crazy Vikings)...................... +5'57''
09. Guillermo Comejo (Crazy Vikings).............. +6'32''
10. Dmitri Kruglov (Bogis Cycling Team)............ +7'18''
11. Gerald Genepi (Chartreuse Monks).............. +7'29''
12. Ruis Jalibor (Uhlsport)............................. +7'29''
13. Laurentio Balcan (Bogis Cycling Team).......... +7'43''
14. Nils Vengeon (Chartreuse Monks)................. +7'43''
15. Piotrdebil Blaszczak (guciuzuza).................. +7'48''
16. Jonatan Christie (Uhlsport)......................... +8'03'''
17. Alexis Boeuf (Chartreuse Monks)................... +8'05''
18. Koen Amisten (Speed-Razor)........................ +8'14''
19. Orlando Oliveira (celteam).......................... +8'18''
20. Iulian Postu (Bogis Cycling Team)................... +8'18''

How did this happen?

Stage 4: Iulian Postu (Bogis Cycling Team) wins.
Stage 5: Fabio Fonda (Gipfelstuermer) wins after last kilometer attack together with Giuseppe Genovese (Gipfelstuermer).
Stage 6: Koen Amisten (Speed-Razor) wins at Mur de Bretagne.
Stage 7: Asher Balcan (Bogis Cycling Team) wins in an escape before Andres Araujo (Crazy Vikings) and Mateo Montesinos (Gipfelstuermer), who all take some time in GC.
Stage 8: Magnus Martinsen (Gipfelstuermer) wins a flat stage after a late attack.
Stage 9: Marie Dorin (Crazy Vikings) wins the prestigious Roubaix but more remarkable Mateo Montesinos takes yellow and wins more time on the climbers.

Overall, it is surprising that Jonatan Christie (Uhlsport) could not win anything on his main contender Dmitri Kruglov (Bogis Cycling Team), neither on the two hilly stages nor on the pave stage, although on paper Christie is the favorite here. Does he save his power for the mountains? It might be too late then because Kruglov has all cards in his hands because of the long TT coming, where he can take some minutes.

Ok, Chart asking for details on pave stage, here they are:

On the prestigious Roubaix Stage, the strongest cobble rider in the field Marie Dorin (Crazy Vikings) wins a stage after a late attack at km150, the last pave km. Thereby he stole the victory from his team mate Jörg Müller who had been the strongest sprinter in the first group and who is a contender for maillot vert, now still 2 points behind Fabio Fonda (Gipfelstuermer). Another candidate for the stage, Gerald Genepi (Chartreuse Monks) did not arrive with the first group due to his team not supporting him.

Dorin however did not only steal the victory from Müller, he also stole the show from Montesinos whose team Gipfelstuermer had been riding 150km for a possible stage win, without any support from any other team. At least, Montesinos took home yellow, which he will most likely keep for only two days: the rest day and the first real mountain stage.

During the stage, spectators had seen a spectacular fight between three groups: Montesinos Group vs. Kruglov Group vs Blasczcak/Oliveira Group. There existed many other smaller groups during the race but none of them remained for very long. Neither Christie (Uhlsport) nor Berger (Chartreuse Monks) nor Blasczcak (guciuzuza) used their cobble skills to try to gain time in GC on best positioned climber Kruglov. In fact Blasczcak ended up in a group with Oliveira (celteam) a few seconds behind the Kruglov Group.

So eventually Gipfelstuermer rode in the first group. Bogis rode in second group together with Alonso. guciuzuza and celteam cooperated in third group. That way the climbers were able to limit their time loss versus the cobble specialists to 3'40''.

The gap is impressive but considering the HC mountain stages and the ITT coming, the favorites for the podium remain to be Christie, Kruglov, Blasczcak and Oliveira, probably also in that order although Kruglov has proven to be the strongest in the first week.

« Quel Chef d’Œuvre ! » L’EQUIPE
(What a masterpiece)
French newspapers titles are dithyrambic regarding the new win of a French rider on the Tour de France (3rd win for Chartreuse Monks) and moreover regarding the time gain at General Classification for Fonda of Gipfel’s team.

The peloton arrived with less than 5min vs a small group of 2 Speed-Razor riders, among which the classiker Denis Bihore, at the bottom of the Pic de Nore.

Mountain leaders rode the cat1 mountain like hell, Denis Bihore has been able to pass it first follow by team Uhlsport Christie group and then Gipfel/Chartreuse leaders.

A fight start between these 2 groupes and thanks to the 25km of flat between the bottom of Pic de Nore and Castelnaudary, both Fonda and Genepi were able to come back and even attack with a group of fresh riders who did not collaborate with Christie.

Genepi (Chartreuse) won the stage and Fonda (Gipfel) won more than 1min at GK.

What a scenario in this Tour with 3 remaining mountain stages for Uhlsport and Bogis to come back at GK + a Time Trial in Pays Vasco which might be the key of this Tour.

Christie has been seen chasing some mountain points… By chasing several classification, will Christie lose all ?

Let’s see it in the near future !!!

Nice analysis of stage 15, a remarkable stage.

However, should probably analyze the whole week: Fabio Fonda took yellow from Mateo Montesinos on Stage 11 and kept it for the whole time. His manager claims he is a hero after winning ciclamino earlier this year in Italy, he now wear maillot jaune and maillot vert simultaneaously. When has a rider ever achieved that? Nobody remembers.

But, it looked a lot like he would lose it during the week. His advantage to Jonatan Christie decreased from 3'39'' to 0'04'' only. during the week. Only on the last day, Montesinos counterattack increased the gap back to 1'44''. GC now looks like this:

Maillot Jaune
01. Fabio Fonda (Gipfelstuermer)............ 0:00
02. Jonatan Christie (Uhlsport)............... +1'44'''
03. Mateo Montesinos (Gipfelstuermer)...... +2'39''

07. Orlando Oliveira (celteam).................. +4'01''
08. Fernando Alonso (Team Alonso Cycle)..... +5'40''
09. Cedric DeClerq (Bogis Cycling Team)....... +5'40''
10. Pedro Pinheiro (Gipfelstuermer)............. +6'04''

RS Coesitz<00:46>: shame
free team<00:08>: yap
Luques<23:58>: Guci winning the tour?
free team<23:56>: for 18 stages everybody pulled Uhlsport and today he pulled guci^^
Gipfelstuermer<23:51>: Podium for Fabio should be a good feeling, but it is not right now.
Gipfelstuermer<23:48>: I tried everything for 19 stages, but there was always somebody to pull Christie or Blaszczak for no reason.
Gipfelstuermer<23:46>: Thanks, Coe.
RS Coesitz<23:27>: Sorry for Gip. Well done, but Uhlsport with the best rider in peloton riding like a sausage.
