Soccer WC Tip Game

As the winner of the EC game i am very interested to have one for the WC. So I organize it myself.

The modus:

We will have 2 rounds: one pre-tournament-round and the in-tournamant round.


The pre-tournament round is starting from now on. Tips can be written in here until 11.06.2010, 15:50 MEZ (According to forum time)
Points to be earned are following:

Qualyfiing from groups:
1 - For each correct team to qualifiy for the 8th-final
1 - For each of those 2 teams tipped at the correct place (1st or 2nd)

8th-final:
2 - for each team to qualify for the quarterfinal

quarterfinal:
3 - for each team to qualify for the semifinal

semifinal:
5 - for each team to qualify for the final

final:
15 - world champion

Additionl rules:
- all of those tips have to be in one post
- please only 1 tip post for each team (discussions are allowed in between, of course)
- posts can be edited until the time is over, as the last edit is indicated. If edited later, it will be completely ignored
- to avoid tactical tipping, all tips have to be fit together to be possible. For example, you can only tip teams to reach the quarterfinals that have qualified from the groups for the 8th-finals and so on. If a mistake is made, all tips interfering any team not tipped correctly are ignored, the rest is still counted. This does not mean you have to watch the game plan exactly to match your tips of the group orders (as that counts mainly as to qualify from the group, the order is a bonus).

I will create a master for those tips as soon as i am at home, so you can copy and write in your tips. Some advices will be included to avoid impossible combinations.


The in-tournament round is more or less starting now, too, but we tip per game day. Tips can be written until 10 minutes before the first game of the day. Awardable points are:

1 - for every correct winner/draw
5 - the correct result

After each round (group phase counts as one round) there will be an additional vote who will be world champion (so wrong tips before the tournament can be corrected). All given tips before will still be counted, so if you voted for another team after the quarterfinal, but your tip before the tournament was correct, you will still earn those points. Limit will be 10 minutes before the start of the next round.
after the group phase: 10 points for the correct champion
after the 8th-final: 5 poinst for the correct world champion
after the quarterfinals: 2 poinst for the correct world champion
none after semifinals

We can also discuss the awardable points, until the time limits that are set for the tips.

Like i regogniced now, the rule tipping the results of the games is not very good for KO-Games

How do we deal with overtime and penalty ?

@Cerro Your tips at the KO-games cannot be correct. You have Italy and Netherlands winning in the 1/8 final. But as you chose Italy to become second in the group, they will play against each other in the 1/8 final. And Paraguay plays against Denmark, where nobody gets to the next round at your tip.^^
Furthermore Argentina play against Serbia at your quarter final, so only one can reach the semi final. And Germany play against Uruguay following your tips, and there again nobody reaches the next round.
Or do you want it to see completely separated from your tips for the groups/round before?

And say explicit that the results of the KO games are with overtime and penalty shootout and everything is okay. Or not?

no i don't, but i don't wanted it to make it to complecated. The tips should be based on the rounds before. But i allready want to give a point if a team qualifies from the group but is on the wrong place. So if the order is switched, the tip is still right, the position is just a bonus. So I want to allow to chose any of those 4 as the games are not exactly fixed.

Nethertheless i saw my mistake and will change something.

Mode for KO-Games:
1 point for the team moving on to the next round
2 points if additionally tipped correct if game ands after regular time, overtime or penalty shooting
5 points if additionally tipped the completly correct result
