No, you see, here we disagree again. Not everybody should do it as they like. Just use Seitentaschen. That simple. And see no point in taking your luggage for training rides either. Ok, if you're not used to it, maybe once.. but otherwise you'll just get used to it in one day. Get a stupid backpack and ride a day, then get seitentaschen and ride a day, then you'll have figured out what is better. Seitentaschen obviously. The weight? No need for 50 kg... Adjusting is easy, you just go a bit slower.

Pff, I took breaks only in the downhill :!:
Kraftsystemrevision! Include the distance!
Basics reform: Give blue a chance!
Don't punish bugusers. We all have to use bugs, since most of them are declared as "features"!
Got a carrot from FL. But they threaten to take it away now.

I did that because I was not used to ride with an extra of about 7 kilos. And especially uphill the weight makes a big difference (you know that). I did some of my training sessions with my backpack (ok, "Seitentaschen" are much better) to be well prepared for my first Alpencross.

Pfff. I don't even have breaks :!: :!:

packbacks :o No way !
Seitentaschen = yes, I said 10kgs on it is enough (2kgs for a tent, 500kgs for shoes, 2-3kgs of clothes, stuff for bathroom, stuff for mechanic, towel, padlock, ID paper and money, cell, duvet hong with straps, and a good plastic bag to cover it during the storms !)

Take a room in Bourg d'Oisans. From there go out riding every day and come back to the same place -> no extra kilos at all. Many nice mountains are located in that area. Galibier, La Toussuire, Glandon/Croix de Fer, Deux Alpes and some others. Of course l'Alpe d'Huez around the corner.

You are all alone on that trip? No girlfriend with a car, who may carry the baggage from one hotel to another in some cases?

Thanks for your thoughts on the clips, OL bigfoot

That's the best version. No backpack, no Seitentaschen. Just some daily stuff (tools, rain jacket, etc).

I always want to convince my girlfriend to come with us, my father will ride with me, but she is not very positive about that^^

Take a room somewhere there in Bourg d'Oisans is another alternative, but not my favorite at the moment as we had that the last 2 times and the motivation to simply hang around 1 day because you are tired or anything else is much higher. So maybe we have to kidnap an old french grandfather who can drive our car or something like that :D
We have enough time to think about that, i think the plans for that will change over the winter time.

@ OL i know that Alp d'Huez is not the hardest one(was there some years ago) but i think a quite good finish for such a tour.
So my plan for the tour:
1. stage: Cime de la Bonette
2. stage: Col de Vars, Izoard
3. stage: Galibier over the Lautaret side
4. stage: Iseran
5. stage: Madeleine
6. stage: Mollard, Croix de Fer
7. stage: Alpe d'Huez (maybe Sarenne after that)

But before that i have to survive the winter time, lose some kgs again and stay fit.

I know perfectly the 3 first days.
You will do it in the South-North way, I did the oppposite so many times, I don't know the South Version of the Cime de la Bonetten but the top is amazing, a super climb to start.
Vars is not so difficult, but be careful in the some kms of valley between Jausiers and the start of the climb, a really cold valley in the morning, but it looks ok for for you you will do it in the cresent way, not in the downhill ^^
Then Vars you will have 15-20kms of 1-3% valley to join the bottom of Izoard, then the road turn left, the firsts kms are easy to the village Arvieux. And Arvieux to Brunissard (La Chalp between the 2villages) is hard, because they're no curves, and this is 8-12%, then Brunissard, this is always hard, but it's a bit easier (in my point of view) because they're curves and amazing view on the valley. If you do it in a sunny day, you will have a lot of other bikes on the road !
Galibier over the Lautaret side is so ... easy and horrible, because the road between Briancon to the Lautaret is like a big road for cars, you will maybe have an important trafic ! But you can't avoid it, so I can advice you to do the Granon (turn right after Briancon), and then come back in the valley to do the boring Lautaret. Do the Granon in the Morninn, early, that's an amazing climb, you will have to take the same road for the hill and downhill. And it's really possible to do Granon + Galibier (via Lautaret) in the same day.
Iseran, I never climb this one
Madeleine is ... not easy, I did it one time with bad weather ... I hopeyou will have sun !
Mollard, I never climb this one
Croix de Fer is really Fun ! I liked this one !
Alpe d'Huez, classical !

;)

If you want to stay one more day in the South Alps ... I just can advice you the Col Agnel ... my favorite.
An alternative for days 2-3 is to do an italian way, something like that :
day 2 : Col de Larche (a big and long Italian valley, turn left, an other valley) Col Agnel
stay calm in the Queyras' valley in the evening
day 3 : Izoard + Galibier

;)
