After some time back again!

The season is ended, now almost all fantasy races, the team is growing up little by little and we plan to be competitive from March 2014.

December, January and February will be good months to make some tests, try new lineups and so on.

Will promise to keep more up to date the international section (but italian too is not so updated to be honest :D )

Well, those who speak know nothin'
And find out to their cost
Like those who curse their luck in too many places
And those who fear are lost

I know that the spades are the swords of a soldier
I know that the clubs are weapons of war
I know that diamonds mean money for this art
But that's not the shape of my heart

LUQUES GOES TO SAN LUIS!

Image

Luques Team finally starts the Real Season with San Luis! Even if this is a preparation Tour, we will look to some great results!

Here is the official Line-UP:

x1 Andrey Vasilyuk - The Climber, The Leader
x2 Dmitrenko - Helper in every field
x3 Blacklow - Read as Dmitrenko but with less reg
x4 Yngve Blom - Another Helper
x5 Kamizuru - Maybe his last tour? Anyway good helper for flat stages
x6 Bulloch - The man that has to close every risky attack on the flat!
x7 Artyom - The Sprinter, will lead the Luques Team in stages 1, 3 and 7
x8 Pasternak - The Young, unfaticable helper and also good at ITT!
x9 Durmonov - The man that will launch Artyom to a win (well we hope!)

FIRST STAGE: ARTYOM MISSES IT

Image

Great work from Luques Team but the sprint goes wrong for Artyom that can reach only the 3rd position

20.01.2014,13 Uhr Tour de San Luis : Tour de San Luis; 1 San Luis-Villa Mercedes: Flachetappe
1. 00:00:00 Paul Walker (Rockstar Inc)
2. 00:00:00 Dani Gomez (Cali Cafe Colombia)
3. 00:00:00 Artyom Priedens (Luques)
4. 00:00:00 Stephane Olivier (Saxo-tinkoff)
5. 00:00:00 Abdumutal Durmonov (Luques)

We worked all the day. Trying to close every attack, fortunately we had the help of Saxo and Rockstar at the end. Not much to tell really, first some escapes for the red jersey, then some attacks to weaken the peloton, but Bulloch closes it at -3 from the end.
Then the sprint, bad strategy, Durmonov starts 50m after and it's too late to recover from Rockstar sprinter. Artyom takes back some space, but it's too late. Tomorrow rest day, we will enjoy the panorama and then let Andrey have a decent result in the last hill.

SECOND STAGE: SAVING APPEARANCES

Image

Luques waits in the peloton and relax as tomorrow will be another hard fight for a MS.

21.01.2014,13 Uhr Tour de San Luis : Tour de San Luis: 2 La Punta-Mirador del Potrero: HC Bergetappe
1. 00:00:00 Samuel Beckett (Haudegen)
2. 00:00:06 Gianni Regazzoni (Falkenbier)
3. 00:00:06 Vincent Pinneau (Saxo-tinkoff)
4. 00:00:07 Andrey Vasilyuk (Luques)
5. 00:00:09 Joaquin Sosa (Recien Nacidos)

Relaxing all day. Well! But taking all the important things. Artyom recovered 4points in the point classification taking position 2. Andrey took an interesting 4th position seen his state of form. Most important, fit for tomorrow, another long and hard flat sprint stage. Will Artyom do it?

THIRD STAGE: AWFUL SPRINT, ARTYOM 4TH

Image

Luques works a lot but the result is disappointing... Now remains only the last stage that we will probably miss

22.01.2014,13 Uhr Tour de San Luis : Tour de San Luis: 3 Tilisarao - Juana Koslay: Flachetappe
1. 00:00:00 Eugeno Espejo (Haudegen)
2. 00:00:01 Paul Walker (Rockstar Inc)
3. 00:00:01 Dani Gomez (Cali Cafe Colombia)
4. 00:00:01 Artyom Priedens (Luques)
5. 00:00:01 Stephane Olivier (Saxo-tinkoff)

Working good as day 1. Temperatures quite high so no one tries really. The only one who tries it's Friendstipp but Luques and Rockstar catch him at -9km from the end. Unfortunately the attack of Espejo on a 2% goes through and Midlarsky + Bulloch can't catch him at the last km, so gw for Haudegen sprinters play for the second place. And It's again Walker the winner of the sprint, Artyom still 2 positions behind me. Now need a sitter for the last sprint of Sunday, but really need some more confidence on these sprints.

FOURTH STAGE: ANDREY HOLD ON, ARTYOM GIVES UP

Image

After the 4th stage some balance can be made. Artyom gives up the idea of the green, Andrey hopes in a TOP10.

23.01.2014,13 Uhr Tour de San Luis : Tour de San Luis: 4 Potrero de Los Funes - Alto de: HC Bergetappe
1. 00:00:00 Samuel Beckett (Haudegen)
2. 00:00:06 Gianni Regazzoni (Falkenbier)
3. 00:00:06 Vincent Pinneau (Saxo-tinkoff)
4. 00:00:06 Andrey Vasilyuk (Luques)
5. 00:00:26 Joaquin Sosa (Recien Nacidos)

Another day of relax, just before the ITT. The peloton controlled well the escape of saxo-tinkoff. Artyom tried for the IS to get some points but when he realized to have not enough margin he simply gave up, will try to get a win this sunday without pressure. The final climb went as expected, Beckett as usual in good shape attacks and goes, the 3 followers can't keep up, but wins some seconds over the other climbers. Tomorrow the ITT will finally redesign the GC.

FIFTH STAGE: ANDREY STILL IN TOP5

Image

Nice ITT for Pasternak, Andrey is still in the TOP5 even if tomorrow will be difficult to keep up.

24.01.2014,13 Uhr Tour de San Luis : Tour de San Luis: 5 San Luis - San Luis: Zeitfahren
1. 00:00:00 Tsimafej Bosyakov (Falkenbier)
2. 00:00:22 Rick Zabel (Saxo-tinkoff)
3. 00:00:35 Ramunas Konovalovas (Cali Cafe Colombia)
4. 00:00:49 Piotr Kornacki (Friendstipp RC)
5. 00:00:55 Wilhelm Canaris (Recien Nacidos)

Tomorrow last mountain stage... then sprint stage where we probably found a sitter.

6TH STAGE: ANDREY FINISHES 3RD AND SECURES THE TOP5

Image

Again another difficult end. Andrey can't counter Gianni but finishes third and save the Top5.

25.01.2014,13 Uhr Tour de San Luis : Tour de San Luis: 6 Las Chacras-Mirador del Sol: HC Bergetappe
1. 00:00:00 Samuel Beckett (Haudegen)
2. 00:00:14 Gianni Regazzoni (Falkenbier)
3. 00:00:18 Andrey Vasilyuk (Luques)
4. 00:00:20 Jonathan Good (Rockstar Inc)
5. 00:00:20 Josh Radnor (Friendstipp RC)

Not much to say. The race goes exactly as the other mountain stages. Beckett probably attacks too early but he is still too strong, Friendstipp and Saxo attack early and are caught again by the peloton, then goes Gianni and at last km Andrey gaining 2 secs over the others. Tomorrow the ape will sit and lead the team in the last stage of the tour.

7TH STAGE: DIFFICULT END, A SHORT GROUP MAKES IT, ARTYOM WINS IN THE PELOTON

Image

Complex final for this last stage. A small group go through, while Artyom wins in the peloton.

Luques Plans for February

Luques Plans for February are quite simple. After San Luis we will go to New Zealand Cycling Tour. Then entering in February we will move to Middle East. Before Dubai, then Qatar and then probably Oman. At the end of the month a partecipation at Tour de Langwaki is possible too, but we will see what we will miss at the start of March.

LUQUES TO NEW ZEALAND CYCLING

Image

LineUp:

1- Polyakov
2- Bulloch
3 - Alexeev
4 - Priedens
5 - Vilen
6 - Blacklow
7 - Kamizuru
8 - Blom
9 - Pasternak

1ST STAGE: GOOD ILYA, THIRD BUT IN FRONT

The TT man doesn't win but perform well in the ITT in New Zealand, other guys enjoying the panorama

Image

29.01.2014,15 Uhr New Zealand Cycle Classic : New Zealand stage 1: Palmerston North ITT: Zeitfahren
1. 00:00:00 Priits Lehtla (Team Indonesia)
2. 00:00:06 Anton Zeilinger (Tulpengeneral)
3. 00:00:08 Ilya Polyakov (Luques)
4. 00:00:09 Carlson Brakker (rexon)
5. 00:00:13 Almir Kasumovic (Tulpengeneral)

Not much to tell, simple short ITT, Ilya with bad form still holds on and takes the 3rd position. Tomorrow probably a MS, Artom is loading :)

2nd STAGE: ARTYOM SECOND, FORM IS RAISING

Artyom is starting to warm up for the big tours of February and reach the second position

Image

30.01.2014,15 Uhr New Zealand Cycle Classic : New Zealand stage 2: Palmerston North - Palmersto: Flachetappe
1. 00:00:00 Otabek Ahmadjonov (TyrRacing)
2. 00:00:00 Artyom Priedens (Luques)

4. 00:00:00 Lin Anguno (Quickstep)
5. 00:00:00 Marlon White (rexon)

Easy stage. No siebs. An escape of 2 men goes through for the red jersey, but then TyrRacing controls everything also with the help of Pasternak. At -80 there isn't any escape anymore, no one tries and from -30 the peloton raises speed till coming to a clear MS. The MS is dominated by TyrRacing and his strong sprint train, Artyom gets the wheel but it's not enough, good performance anyway for the Feb Tours. Tomorrow another sprint is possible, another chance for Artyom.

3rd STAGE: NOTHING CHANGES, ARTYOM SECOND

Artyom continues his preparation for February.

Image

31.01.2014,15 Uhr New Zealand Cycle Classic : New Zealand stage 3: Palmerston North - Palmersto: Flachetappe
1. 00:00:00 Otabek Ahmadjonov (TyrRacing)
2. 00:00:00 Artyom Priedens (Luques)

4. 00:00:00 Marlon White (rexon)
5. 00:00:00 Lin Anguno (Quickstep)

As yesterday. Tomorrow will be a difficult day, a MS is not sure at all, let's see where Artyom can go.

4th STAGE: JUST READ LIKE THE 3RD

Artyom continues his preparation for February.

Image

1.02.2014,15 Uhr New Zealand Cycle Classic : New Zealand stage 4: Palmerston North - Ashhurst : Mittelschwere Etappe
1. 00:00:00 Otabek Ahmadjonov (TyrRacing)
2. 00:00:00 Artyom Priedens (Luques)
3. 00:00:00 Marlon White (rexon)
4. 00:00:00 UfukUgur Büyükbuluter (Tulpengeneral)
5. 00:00:00 Baurzhan Nurdauletov (TyrRacing)

As yesterday. Still nothing changes, but finally the season will start.

5th STAGE: SAVING THE POSSIBLE

Ilya ends in the TOP 5 and ends the month with a nice result hoping for the next to be ready.

Luques is still looking for a sprinter

Searched for all January, Team Luques is still hunting for a young sprinter to help Artyom this spring. Actually Sini announced his retirement in March so we need someone to fill his position. Although we took some contacts they didn't end well. Hopefully the new sprinter will join us in March

LUQUES GOES IN THE MIDDLE EAST, STARTING WITH DUBAI

Image

LineUp:

1- Polyakov
2- Bulloch
3 - Pasternak
4 - Sini
5 - Vilen
6 - Blacklow
7 - Kamizuru
8 - Blom

1ST STAGE: ILYA, IT'S ALWAYS THIRD PLACE

The TT man still miss the victory

Image

5.02.2014,12 Uhr Dubai Tour : Dubai Tour 2014 St 1: Dubai: Zeitfahren
1. 00:00:00 Valeriu Andronic (SK Blu-Bardhe)
2. 00:00:04 Charlie Chaplin (bergwerk)
3. 00:00:06 Ilya Polyakov (Luques)
4. 00:00:41 Jonah Fall (Rockstar Inc)
5. 00:00:47 Franio Czubinski (MokotowWarszawa)

Again a simple short ITT, Ilya reach the 3rd position, others behind. Tomorrow a MS is possible, let's see how things will evolve, Deuse has a really strong train. Chaplin looks like the GC winner

2ND STAGE: MS, SINI DOES WHAT HE CAN

Not much to expect from him, but he takes a good 4th place, in the month of retirement

Image

6.02.2014,12 Uhr Dubai Tour : Dubai Tour 2014 St 2: Dubai to Palm Jumeirah: Flachetappe
1. 00:00:00 Hugues DeCrozenc (ChartreuseCycle)
2. 00:00:00 Jimmy Somerville (bergwerk)
3. 00:00:00 Ryan Getzlaf (SK Blu-Bardhe)
4. 00:00:00 Mario Sini (Luques)
5. 00:00:00 Zenek Zenkowski (MokotowWarszawa)

Easy stage for the sprinters, no one except Harris tries really an escape, so it is just controlling all the time. At the sprint wins a more then favo CC. Everybody is preparing for tomorrow key stage.

3rd STAGE: ILYA STILL IN THE TOP3!!

After the middle mountain stage, the first two position exchange behind it's all the same

7.02.2014,12 Uhr Dubai Tour : Dubai Tour 2014 St 3: Dubai to Hatta: Mittelschwere Etappe
1. 00:00:00 Pedro Saramago (Rockstar Inc)
2. 00:00:00 JeanPierre Desgrange (Ballantines)
3. 00:00:00 Amr Diab (bergwerk)
4. 00:00:00 Charlie Chaplin (bergwerk)
5. 00:00:00 Jurgen VandenBroeck (Ballantines)

After some time, we come back to do a decent result in a tour. The TOP3 should be possible tomorrow if we don't make too many errors. In any case also today there is not much to tell, many offline, no attack except for the green; for the rest was just controlling and trying to come back. In the end we pay the form on day 1, even if the tour would have been difficult.

4th STAGE: IIT'S TOP3!!

MS and position confirmed

After some time, we do a nice result in a tour, good placement 3rd position more was really difficult but happy how things went.

LUQUES GOES TO QATAR?

Image

Luques continues the road in the middle East but this time with some doubts.

LineUp:

1- Polyakov
2 - Pasternak
3 - Bulloch
4 - Ojamaa
5 - Vilen
6 - Kamizuru
7 - Alexeev
8 - Priedens

1ST STAGE: ILYA ALREADY LOSE SECS

The TT man lose 2'' for boni

10.02.2014,13 Uhr Qatar : Qatar14 St.1: Al Wakra - Dukhan Beach: Flachetappe
1. 00:00:00 Tapani Salpa (Black-Star)
2. 00:00:00 Otabek Ahmadjonov (TyrRacing)
3. 00:00:00 Baurzhan Nurdauletov (TyrRacing)
4. 00:00:00 Artyom Priedens (Luques)
5. 00:00:00 Laurent Vendredi (Francesco Moser)

We help to control but the ITT guy of SK takes two importants boni secs, then at the sprint nothing happens the big favo are all in front, with the victory of the favo of the day.

2nd STAGE: NO ARTY NO PARTY

The Luques sprinter gets his second victory after overtaking at the last 50m the big favo of the day

11.02.2014,13 Uhr Qatar : Qatar14 St.2: Camel Race Track-Al Khor Corniche: Flachetappe
1. 00:00:00 Artyom Priedens (Luques)
2. 00:00:00 Tapani Salpa (Black-Star)
3. 00:00:00 Michael Creek (Petit Singe)
4. 00:00:00 Baurzhan Nurdauletov (TyrRacing)
5. 00:00:00 Miguel Guerra (SuperMax)

Again we help control, not much happens during the race till the MS. There Singe opens up things by creating his train and not following the strong Salpa, this forces Salpa to start from 150m and Artyom at his wheel jumps out at 50m to take a fantastic victory for Team Luques. The first in February.

3rd STAGE: ILYA IMPOSES HIMSELF AT THE ITT

The ITT Man wins and gets the yellow jersey.

Simple ITT, the second gets 9", Ilya has the yellow jersey for 2".

4th STAGE: IT'S STILL ARTYOM

The Luques Sprinter wins also the 4th stage of the Qatar Tour

13.02.2014,13 Uhr Qatar : Qatar14 St.4: Durkhan - Mesaieed: Flachetappe
1. 00:00:00 Artyom Priedens (Luques)
2. 00:00:00 Tapani Salpa (Black-Star)
3. 00:00:00 Laurent Vendredi (Francesco Moser)
4. 00:00:00 Otabek Ahmadjonov (TyrRacing)
5. 00:00:00 Michael Creek (Petit Singe)

THX POKE

5th STAGE: DEVELOPING THE YELLOW

Ilya doesn't lose any sec at the bonisecs, Artyom nice 3rd place

14.02.2014,13 Uhr Qatar : Qatar14 St.5: Al Zubara Fort - Madinat Al Shamal: Flachetappe
1. 00:00:00 Tapani Salpa (Black-Star)
2. 00:00:00 Michael Creek (Petit Singe)
3. 00:00:00 Artyom Priedens (Luques)
4. 00:00:00 Ryan Getzlaf (SK Blu-Bardhe)
5. 00:00:00 Miguel Guerra (SuperMax)

We help again the peloton to reach a MS, BS too. The good news of the day is that with 6'' of boni remaining Ilya is in front of 7'', so only an attack could save SK ITT man. The sprint is pretty easy for BS, with all the others pretty tired.

6th STAGE: ILYA IS THE WINNER OF QATAR 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The stage ends with a MS enough to ensure to Ilya the first place in the GC!

15.02.2014,13 Uhr Qatar
1. Platz: Ilya Polyakov (Luques)
2. Platz: Bernado Cartin (SK Blu-Bardhe)
3. Platz: Ramunas Konovalovas (Cali Cafe Colombia)
Sprinttrikot: Tapani Salpa (Black-Star)
Jungfahrertrikot: Carlos Zeledon (SK Blu-Bardhe)
Mannschaftswertung: SK Blu-Bardhe

15.02.2014,13 Uhr Qatar : Qatar14 St.6: Sealine Beach Resort - Doha Corniche: Flachetappe
1. 00:00:00 Tapani Salpa (Black-Star)
2. 00:00:00 Otabek Ahmadjonov (TyrRacing)
3. 00:00:00 Michael Creek (Petit Singe)
4. 00:00:00 Artyom Priedens (Luques)
5. 00:00:00 Ryan Getzlaf (SK Blu-Bardhe)

Great stage. It ends at the MS, Artyom gets the 4th position but it's not really important, the most important thing is the win of Ilya, first in a tour for him and fantastic result!
At the end we close the tour with 3 victories and the first place in GC, fantastic tour by our guys, hoping that things will continue like this also in upcoming months.

LUQUES ENDS HIS MIDDLE-EAST CAMPAIGN WITH THE OMAN TOUR

Image

Last step for Luques in Middle East, lineup expensive but we hope to get a good place in GC. It is also the last tour for SINI.

LineUp:

1- Vasilyuk
2 - Tajibayuly
3 - Dmitrenko
4 - Alexeev
5 - Blom
6 - Vilen
7 - Pasternak
8 - Sini

1ST STAGE: SET-UP, SINI NICE THIRD

Luques takes back a dangerous escape, Sini gets a good third place and goes on the podium at his last appearance in a tour

18.02.2014,9 Uhr Oman Tour : Oman Tour st 1: Al Suwayq Castle - Naseem Garden: Flachetappe
1. 00:00:00 Zachar Rodzjanko (Mosca Mapei)
2. 00:00:00 Bernardo Almeirim (Ballantines)
3. 00:00:00 Mario Sini (Luques)
4. 00:00:00 Boo Dibang (RSV Jever)
5. 00:00:00 Andrey Gergorov (RideforMoney)

The stage goes quiet in the first kms controlled by Jever and Mosca. We help some kms but when everything seems controlled we just remain quiet in the peloton. At -20 there is a big attack, in front Mosca and RFM both with 2 classic riders. We don't like that much so we work to get them back, operation went perfectly at last km. The MS is open, both Mosca and RFM lost a rider while attacking, out of the mess Zachar puts his wheels in front of everybody, Sini gets a nice 3rd position and as the oldest rider in the tour shows again his will to fight and win!

2ND STAGE: SINI STILL FIGHT

All safe at the second stage...

19.02.2014,9 Uhr Oman Tour : Oman Tour st 2: Al Bustan - Quriyat: Flachetappe
1. 00:00:00 Zachar Rodzjanko (Mosca Mapei)
2. 00:00:00 Bernardo Almeirim (Ballantines)
3. 00:00:00 Magnus Svendsen (RSC Plaidt)
4. 00:00:00 Mario Sini (Luques)
5. 00:00:00 Basarab Panduru (team cyclyngSTEAUA)

The stage is pretty nervous. The escape (little) takes 9/10 minutes before the peloton starts working. The work is not costant, RFM, Luques, Jever and Mosca change riders costantly and relaxing, cause the end can cause some problems. And it does. Sieb at -30 from the end, Yngve waits for Sini and takes him back with the other sprinters on the second +5, then it's a fight to catch hill sprinters. At the last km we reach them and so again MS. This time even more confusion but the result is still the same, Mosca wins, Sini takes 4th; from tomorrow starts another story.

3RD STAGE: RISKING THE GC

The escape risks to mess up all the gc but finally they can't find an agreement and Luques and RFM save the day

A big risk, letting the escape a so huge gap. Then fast and high tempo in the peloton to come back and the day is save. Victory of the group but not so distant the peloton, so that Andrey can still play his chances for GC.

4TH STAGE: SURVIVING IN CLASSICS FIGHT

Perfect day for classics, the peloton arrives in a reduced group at the end

21.02.2014,9 Uhr Oman Tour : Oman Tour st 4: Wadi Al Abiyad - Ministry of Housi: Mittelschwere Etappe
1. 00:00:00 Otto Pilotov (RideforMoney)
2. 00:00:00 Alexis Imbreo (RSC Plaidt)
3. 00:00:00 Jim Rocket (SV Furpach)
4. 00:00:00 MiguelAngel Moreno (Mosca Mapei)
5. 00:00:00 Sergey Stepanov (RideforMoney)

This time controlled from the beginning, no risk taken. An interesting attack of Adriano climber moves things but he will be out for tomorrow. Then it is just conducing the peloton to a mass finish and wait for tomorrow where the GC will be defined.

YNGVE IS RED!

We partecipate at Tour Haut Var without many objectives, just go into escapes and get something out of it. The first day goes well, the escape is caught but Ivan ends in the TOP 10 after a nice attack at the last km.

Day 2 happens the miracle, everybody is fighting for the red, they do tempo, attacks, siebs, everything but no one cares about Yngve that sprints and win the red jersey, the first of his career

At the end a nice attack by Poke gives him the yellow, but everybody of the team is just happy for Yngve.

In every tour we took part this month we took something at home, overall, 1 GC, 2 Podiums, 1 Red. Not bad, Not bad.

TOUR LANGKAWI: LUQUES ROLLING

We went to Langkawi much more to see some landscapes then for a real win. Well, we didn't win indeed

Actually at half Tour we can say that we have a solid podium position (2min of advantage from the 4th), stage chances are not so high as our objectives are a bit different but we will try till the end.

FEW INFORMATIONS ON TEAM LUQUES

Real races started and we are more and more busy to keep this updated. Langkawi ended well with a victory and the second place in the GC, pretty unexpected. Now at the end of Tirreno-Adriatico we won a stage and the green jersey, the real objective of this tour.

Now just waiting for the classics :)

SINI RETIRES

As announced Sini 36yo retires at the end of the season

"There comes a time when you realize that you simply can't keep up and maybe it's the time to do something other" Sini said after his last race. The cyclist rider will remain with Luques Team as official chef of the team.

Indeed cooking is one of his biggest passions, "When I started cycling it was more for hobby, never thought I could became a Pro. My path was to become a chef and maybe start an activity on my own but fortunately it seems I was pretty good as a sprinter :) "

Now in Team Luques he will join his two big passions, cycling and cooking, "When Luques made me the proposals I was overhappy, he knew pretty well my past and my future plans. I often cooked for the team on rest days, I enjoy it and other people too ;) "

He made Ivan discover the pizza and he became a huge fan of it!

Sini retires after having won with Team Luques 3 stages and a green shirt (and two stages with other teams).
