Team FL reached another Goal: 300'000 eternal points in a bit more than 2'000 races. In the meantime, Elwyn Oxley and Ignatz Liechtenstein left the team quietly to open a Magic the Gathering Card Shop in Balzers. A bit of a replacement has been found in the Paraguayan hot prospect Feliciano "The Centurio" Centurion, who will shine in the spring campaign, hopefully. 10 October 2016: Perry Henzell wins Paris-Tours
Perry Henzell has just won his second classic race when he finished first in Tours yesterday. After more than 250 km, the Team FL sprint Train with Franko, Sitko and Henzell proved to be successful, although Henzell profitted from Ana Smolinov (RideforMoney) being on the wrong side of the rode when the GAK train went full throttle.

05 October 2016: Team FL down to 13 riders
After having an all time height of 18 riders in the roster, Team FL reduced the number down to 13 until the end of Ocotber. Just recently, Boxhill, Dif and Ospelt retired from active cycling after Oxley and Lichtenstein did exactly that already in September. Nevertheless, the roster will be up to 14 until 16 riders again in November, when at least two Young prospects will join the Liechtenstein cycling Team. Unfortunately, the team management was not able to convince the October top climber prospect to ride for them. But then again, Hugo Marxer will get the best out of the rest.

30 October 2016: October means NCs for Team FL
Almost a tradition for Team FL, some of its riders win the NC in October every year. For 2016 Feliciano Centurion won in Paraguay and Harrison Tasher defended his title in Belize. The rest was not so lucky.

28 October 2016: Franko wins Sachsen Pavés
Iwan Franko has won a stage, the GC and the points classement of this years Sachen Pavés afternoon edition. With this win, he follows the footsteps of Kari Steinsson, who won it in 2012. Feliciano Centurion missed the youth classement as third only by seconds while having to ride for Franko mostly.

01.12.2016: High fluctuation at Team FL
December started with a bang for Team FL. As classic rider Breyten Breytenbach (5'672 points, 6 race wins incl. LBL), sprinter Perry Henzell (5'326 points, 13 race wins incl. Tours and Brussels) and pavé specialist Harrison Tasher (1'877 Points, 5 race wins incl. 2 NCs, 1 stage race) left the Liechtenstein cycling team, Dong Dong and Nodirkhan Kadyrkhanov joined the team roster. Though both are still youth prospects, Dong might become a valuabale helper while Kadyrkhanov will be the climbing star in 2017 and successor of Carlos Lampe, who showed in November at the Argentina Tour that he's still in for the win .

2017 starts stunningly for Team FL

Race wins, tour win, points classement, team classement: All of that has been offered to Team FL by 2017 so far. The Name behind all this? Iwan Franko.

It's been told that Hugo Marxer had still a hangover when he was co-driving in the team car and watching Iwan Franko's first victory in 2017, in the first race of 2017 by Team FL. Rumour also has it, that so far, Hugo Marxer could not stop drinking as Iwan Franko continued to be succesful. So after his race win in Australia, he also won four out of five stages at the Tour des Pavés. Hence, he also won the tour and the points classement. Beides that, Team FL won the Team classement while Sellami won the youth classement and Feliciano Centurion finished on the GC Podium.

Nevertheless, Hugo went to the rehab Center and now the Liechtenstein cycling Team stays in Australia again at the Tour Down Under, where the pressure is off the team to win anything and other riders may shine, like Kadyrkhanov, Woodcock or Sitko. So the team Management hopes that Hugo will be fresh again after his week and win mode will be back on.

Team FL 2016 review

Usually at this point of the year, the team management orders William de Worde, senior PR manager of Team FL, to write a review about the former year, in this case 2016. Very unfortunately, Mr. de Worde hurt his writing hand when he fell from his bike while making notes about the training efforts of the Team FL riders. So, this years review will be shortened so that it's not much more than 2016 in numbers besides some highlights that will be mentioned now: RVV and LBL wins, attending the Giro. Carlos Lampe Team FL rider of 2017

Carlos Lampe won the voting for Team FL rider of the year 2017 against his four opponents with one vote more than Elwyn Oxley, while Perry Henzell, Iwan Franko and Breyten Breytenbach got only one vote.

Like Luigi Mastrangelo, Carlos Lampe managed to have a full palamares with race wins, stage race wins, a classic win, Points, youth and mountain classement. Thus, it's not surprising that he has been voted Team FL rider of the year 2016. He is also the rider with the most points in 2016. Lampe hasn't won big tours and was also successful in one day races, like Emilia. Nevertheless, all other riders would have deserved to win it too, but it seems he was the most popular among them.

In the meantime, the first new rider in 2017 is Oleg Ogorodov from Uzbekistan. Contrary to Carlos Lampe, his role will be more in the helping business. So far, the Team FL management thinks that he will be a good fit for the team and the 2017 campaign. Whater this will be...

Spring campaign 2017 with first victory

The classic spring 2017 has just started. So far, Team FL could not win a classic race, got second in Omloop (Franko) and missed another opportunity at Strade Bianche. The first win followed at Nokere on Wednesday.

So far, no Team FL rider ever has won Nokere Koerse. Hence, the riders started in high spirits (no, this is not a metaphor for doping or illegal drugs...) to change that fact. And indeed, it worked out pretty well as Feliciano Centurion could win the sprint in a three man group that attacked on the final km at the Nokerenberg. Before that, the rest of the team lined it out perfectly for the pavé specialist from Paraguay. Now the Liechtenstein cycling team is waiting and preparing for Saturday for the first monument in 2017, MSR.

Franko wins Dwars door Vlaanderen

In his second attempt, Iwan Franko wins DdV a the age of 35 after missing a consecutive win at Omloop only by a few inches. It's his third classic win and 12th race win overall.

Before Iwan Franko, Phineas Federspiel was the only rider who won three classcis (GW in 2014 and two times Scheldeprijs in 2014 and '15). Now that changed as the Ukrainian export won Dwars door Flanderen after he already won Omloop and RVV in 2016. His team mates worked a lot for that and in the end, Team FL cooperated with Team Obk and kernabateam for a reduced sprint. Finally, it was the Team FL sprint train that brought Franko in a good position and his 35 years old but still strong legs that secured the victory on the last meters. Happily, also Feliciano Centurion could show that he has the potential to become a worthy successor when he missed the podium only by one place. You could think that now it's time for Franko to retire and enjoy his victories. But that's not his style. There are still races that suit him and the team is willing to work for another classic win. And who knows, maybe he will become the first Team FL riders to defend a monument victory at RVV...

Team FL keeps winning in Belgium

After Franko won DdV, Pavel Sitko contributed another classic win to the Team FL palmares when winning Gent-Wevelgem.

After an exciting and unusual fair race, Pavel Sitko won this year's Gent-Wevelgem edition. It wasn't the frist time, Team FL could celebrate at Gent-Wevelgem. Pedro Garrido and Phineas Federspiel already have this race win in their palmares. Not only was Pavel Sitko the third Team FL rider to win this Belgium classic, it was also the third different rider type to do it for Team FL. First was Pedro Garrido in 2011, a hybrid pavé and hill rider with 68 sprint. He was followed by Phineas Federspiel in 2014, one of Team FL's most successful sprinters. And this year with Sitko it was flat sprint hybrid rider with his 78 flat and 81 sprint (and 70 pavé). For Sitko, it was his first classic win (33rd for Team FL) and his third career win (348th for Team FL). So, who's next as GW winner for Team FL? A climber? Most likely not, but more victories by whoever are welcome nevertheless. However, the next important classic race will be RVV for sure, after the team will have warmed up at the three days of De Panne.

Ain't no time for all the news

Team FL senior PR officer, William deWorde, was on a sabbatical for two month. Thus, lot of news have not been published. Yet. But now he's back and here are the latest developments around the Liechtenstein cycling team, in a glance.

Looking at the results, Team FL's rin the esults April and May campaign were mixed. Feliciano Centurion missed a win at Paris Roubaix by a wheel length, RVV and LBL were out of reach. On the other hand, the team could celebrate three meaningless wins. So, everbody was awaiting the Giro d'Italia in May, one of the big highlights this year. Thanks to Hugo Marxer's great tactical skills the team performed very well and was able to bring back home 5 stage wins (2x Sitko, 2x Kadyrkhanov, 1x Pene), the Points classement win (Sitko), and the 2nd place in the GC (Kadyrkhanov). June seems to be nice to the team too, as there are 4 race wins in the palmares already. Unfortunately, Team FL will miss both Dauphiné and the Tour de Suisse. So the next bigger goal will be to attend the Tour de France, if possible.

Changes in the team roster

As time flies by, there have also been changes to the team roster since the beginning of April, when Carlos Lampe retired and Serghei Pascenco joined the team. Six more riders have left Team FL to search for other excitements than cycling, including:

- all time great Iwan Franko, 12 stage wins (incl. RVV, DdV and Omloop), 2 stage race wins, 2 points classements;
- all time banging Bambang Megaranto, 4 stage wins, 1 youth classement;
- all time "Marty" Amartya Sen, 2 stage wins;

and just recently:

- all time relentless worker Fridolin Tschugmell, 1 stage win, 1 points classement;
- all time 50 shades of Anselmo Grau, 2 stage wins;
- all time hard Tony Woodcock, 4 stage wins.

Very fortunately, there have also been riders who joined Team FL. So here are the new guys in the team:

- Ngo Nguyen, vietnamese sprinter;
- JungGi Kim, korean clone of Iwan Franko.

Well, currently, the team consists of 11 riders. Wait, you say. Why have you lost three riders in June already then? Good question and here's the answer: To buy two more riders. Who are they, you ask? That, my friend, will be disclosed in July... Until then, there is a lot of work to do to keep this Press segment alive and up to date

Khan wins SPIH Nostalgia.

Nodirkhan Kadyrkhanov knows podiums. 3rd and 2nd places, that's what he gathered a lot during the GTs and also in the Andes. Finally, at SPIH Nostalgia he finished on top of it.

The goal was pretty clear in the beginning: All for one, all for the Khan. Well, actually, in the ITT, everybody rode for themselves first (or took it easy), but than at stage 2, they rode for... wait... Ngyuen? Dammit, something is wrong with this intro. Anyway, during the first week, they mainly rode for Nguyen, who then won stage 7. So far so good, but in the second week, really, everybody rode for Khan and his GC chances. But the road to the GC win was quite bumpy against riders like Lotfi Zafzaf (Big Donkey) or Riyad Mahrez (UllesTribute). Good for the specatators and very thrilling to watch, bad for the team management's lifespan. Very fortunately, it all turned out well and after many podium places, Kadyrkhanov could finally win a big tour with 33. Now the question is, if he will go for another month or if he should leave off with an appetite.

...::: Team FL World Tour (TM) finished!!! ::...

While Team FL finished it's biggest challenge, a lot of other things happend too...

After more than 10 years and 2'272 races, the Liechtenstein cycling Team finished the Team FL World Tour (TM) with having at least one rider from all the 80 different nations in the game. Afshin Pirhashemi, the climber from Iran, and Kahlid Satour, the hill specialist from Morocco, are the last riders to fill the list. This huge team effort was only possible with the help of the many Scouts all over the world, coordinated by Xaver Unsinn. As far as it is known, Team FL is the first team in the RSF/C4F history to complete this task. At least it's the first team to consciously doing it and writing about it (!).

In the meantime, many of the riders that added to this success left the team, like Nodirkhan Kadyrkhanov, who won the Tour Down Under in his last month of riding, as well as Omar Pene and Samir Sellami. In return, new riders joined the team: Carlos Kaiser from Chile and the above mentioned Afshin Pirhashemi and Kahild Satour.

Usually, there would have been a review of the past year, 2017 it was. But instead, and due to the celebrations, the team management presents the overall statistics from the way to this accomplishment:

We started the challenge at around the same time (and independently), I never had a chance. You had an advantage to start with, and I don't think I came closer. Will take me another year to finish all, but maybe I won't try, don't need Germans and Kiesler and stuff like that in my team Kwalität über Kwantität as Prince Hans-Adam would have said if he was a genius.

Kadyrkhanov and Pene gone, grrr, they were afraid of Zafzaf's revenge! But grr, nice win in the Dec-Tour and Down Under, after suffering under Zipoli (or profiting from him to get podium spots) this damn Kadyrkhanov took his revenge on Zafzaf. And without Pene would have been difficult. Not really because he did much, but just by being there he was always a big threat.

Nice achievements overall too, but at least there I win sometimes. My rider with most wins has more than Peterlin. Ha!
But sadly you forgot to list the BIGGEST achievement of all your riders: Adrian Oesch won "Robyklebt rider of the season/month" in November 2006. Yes, he was obviously riding for that moron at the time, but since "Robyklebt/Petit Singe/Big Donkey rider of the season" is clearly still the biggest award in c4f, being able to hire such star is clearly a huge achievement, that dwarfs all the other stuff you've achieved so far.

But ok, your minor achievements that you listed, and the semi-major one of having all nationalities in the team before the Donkey are pretty cool too.

Anyway, clearly other things influenced it too, like you wanting Italian or Swiss riders, while my only condition was to have at least one FL rider in the team. But thanks for the Congratulations. First TTT win ever for Team FL!

At the Tour des Suisse 2018, Team FL wins the TTT at Stage 1 of the Tour des Suisse 2018. It's their first TTT win ever.

12 years after its foundation, Team FL has a lot of accomplishments in its palmares: lots of race wins including several wins of classics, stage race wins, wins of different classements, etc. Only one thing was missing completely: A win in a team time trial. Well, was missing, until yesterday, when the Liechtenstein cycling team won stage 1 of the Tour de Suisse 2018, a TTT in Frauenfeld. The riders who made this possible were: Afshin Pirhashemi, Willy Attison, Carlos Kaiser, Jung Gi Kim, Lukas Marxer, René Ritter, Kahlid Satour, Sandro Spaeth (currently in white) and Juan Villafuerte (currently in yellow). The win was well earned as Team FL could catch the riders of team Allrad at the very last km of the race and winning in a photo finish. The team around GC leader Pirhashemi will now try to get him in a good position before the ITT on the last stage, where his main rival Luca Doncic may have an advantage.

Successful Tour de Suisse for Team FL

Although it wasn't enough for the tour win, the Tour des Suisse 2018 was a total success for Team FL overall, winning the first 7 stages in a row, points and mountain classement.

When Afshin Pirhashemi won the youth classement at the Giro, he already showed glimpses of greatness. But who would have thought that he will be such a dominant rider at the Tour des Suisse already, where he won 5 stages in a row, the points and the mountain classement. Unfortunately, he could not win the general classement and got second behind Luka Doncic, the only "Huber" in the group. Besides that, Team FL won its first TTT ever (see previous press release) and a reduced bunch sprint with KJG. I seems that this is a good omen for the Tour de France. Nevertheless, the team management is still looking for a potent helper in the mountains to complete the line-up for the big GT in July. And depending on the condition of Ngo Nguyen and Serghei Pascenco, both players are looking to retire from cycling sooner or later. But until then, there is still some way to go.

Team FL roster in turmoil

Le Tour is coming and so are inevitable changes in Team FL's roster.

The news were groundbraking: Team FL separated from its long-serving riders Serghei Pascenco and Ngo Nguyen. Both take an impressive palamares with them and both will be missed by their team mates and fans. While Pascenco was an imporant helper most of the time, he won four races himself as a baroudeur, most notable two stages at the Giro d'Italia 2018. But that's still nothing against 22 race wins (2nd most ever for Team FL), and two points jerseys, one at the Tour de France 2017. While emotionally, it's hard to understand these moves, the goal seems to be clear: Offer the best support for Afshin Pirhashemi at the upcoming Tour de France. Consequently, with Clémenet Solaire the Liechtenstein cycling team added another strong rider for the mountains. And rumour has it, that one more transfer will be made before the start of the Tour at July 7...

Team FL wins the Tour de France!

It took Team FL 12 years to win its first GT when Afshin Pirhashemi managed to seal the deal for the GC at this year’s Tour de France

44 seconds. That was the gap between Afshin Pirhashemi and Petar Petrow. 44 seconds after 3'349 km spread out between 8 flat stages incl. 15 pavé sectors (on 21,7 km), 5 hilly stages, 6 mountain stages, one TTT, one ITT and 2 rest days. During this time, there was one moment of weakness, when Petrow rode into the yellow jersey during stage 15 with an heroic effort. Besides that it was mainly Pirhashemi gaining time against Petrow, f.e. at the TTT, some hilly and mountain stages and most notabely during the ITT when he got back his yellow jersey and one the Tour eventually.

His Tour de France win sets him apart from every other rider who has ever ridden for Team FL, despite legends like Stefano Benni, Fran Peterlin, Luigi Mastrangelo, Phineas Federspiel or Stefan Küng. And he’s only the second rider after Mastrangelo with a full palmares consisting of at least one race win, stage race win, winning the mountain classement, points classement and youth classement. He also should have won his first classic race at San Sebastian (Luigi won la Fleche Wallonne), but Hugo Marxer forgot to book the team bus, so Team FL missed it…

Anyway, this might have been the first AND the last time that Team FL won a GT. The Vuelta will be left out traditionally and the team focus will most likely shift to one day races again. But for sure, Afshin will stay in the team until he’s very old and who knows, maybe he can collect even more wins in the future. But then again, who gives a fu… *ring ring*, *ring ring*, *ring ring*
