Boaz Trakhtenbrot joins 10 wins club

Boaz Trakhtenbrot is the 2nd youngest rider to join the 10 wins club of A&D. He could achive this milestone in just 81 races so he was the fastest to join the club concerning races. He did this by winning the last mountain stage at RASTA were he could achieve to win 4 stages and is leading the GC by over 2min before tomorrows last flat stage.

Statistics Report 2021: Opponents

Welcome to the first part of the 2021 team statistics. Today we want to take closer look on the winning and losing chances against different opponents. In total Alive And Dead could win 57 of the 351 races (including 2 TTT wins), which makes an overall winning percentage of 16.2%. We raced against 98 different teams in 2021, but only 47 of these had more than 10 races with A&D, we excluded the others from the analysis.

Best winning percentage: Ciccio Sport (4 wins in 11 races), from the teams with more than 50 races its Team-Mojabahs (12/53)
Highest losing percentage: RS Coesitz (6 losses in 13 races), from the teams with more than 50 races its Falkenbier (19/74)

The ligh green bar gives the better and the light red bar the worse placement if none of Alive And Dead and opponent won the race. So you can see if, in average, perform better or worse than this team. The first vertical line give the 16.2% total winning percentage and you can see against which teams we over and underperform. The second vertical line shows you 50% so you can see if we place better or worse than the team in average.

Yeah number of races will come in the next update as well. Falkenbier really surprised me, but I also have a quite high winning percentage against him. Most of the really high losing percentages are from teams I just did 11-25 races against.

January 2022

8.887 points an first in Division 1, first Division 1 victory in the team history. In the end we could even safely sell Arthus Rinderknech. 14 Wins in January (including 1 TTT), ridicilously high win percentage of nearly 50% (14/29). But very low participation. We started with the January tour were only CC was there with Johnny Thunders, rest of the afternoon teams didn't show up or were offline during the race (Equinox). So it was not very exciting and A&D could win 7 stages (4x Trakhtenbrot, 2x Oetker, 1x Detreköi), the GC (Trakhtenbrot, 3rd place Detreköi) and the team classification. The one day races were successfull for too with Simony winning his first ever race and Schötensack his 2nd win. In the end we participated in the Festival of Cycling stage race werde we finished 2nd (Oetker) and 3rd (Trakhtenbrot) in the GC and Oetker winning a stage and the points classification + team classification.

Trakhtenbrot and Oetker taking over the lead for the team. Schwackhöfer still was the main force to win the TTT but this was his only race in January. Trankhtenbrot rider of the month January 2022 because of his GC win at RASTA and his temporary lead the RSF rider ranking and wearing the RSF jersey.

Transfer News
Arthur Rinderknech left the team at the 26.01.2022 after 181 races for A&D (1 win, 3x 3rd GC, 1 YRC, 4.444 eternal points). He was the big misunderstanding of the 2021 team. First he was planned as a co leader in a classics squad having him + Wolfowitz + a Röntgen kind of classic sprinter. So primarily he was planned as a helper but with blocking for the classic sprinter he could be the side leader for the GC. At that stage of the planning there was no Schwackhöfer in our team. But as we didn't manage to find (or afford) our planned leader, we decided to go for Schwackhöfer instead. So from that time Rinderknech was kind of not needed any more. He was used as an ultra expensive helper often in stage races with Schwackhöfer together. He would have been able to win some TTs as well were he finished second behind Schwackhöfer.

Welcome back to the statistics report 2021!

First we want to answer the questions of the quiz. Unfortunately we had just 2 managers participating in the quit. Nevermind, here are the right answers:

1: Lance Fortnow is the A&D rider with most km (41.504), he did the most races (254) and was 2nd most active rider (50 attacks/follow), just Akos Detreköi was more active (59). Lance also collected by far most points on the road (449). See full rider statistics of 2021 in the table:

So first point goes to Gip who got Lance right, Robys guess: Uwe reached 39.628 points and a second place, pretty close.

2: This is pretty clear one. It's Big Donkey with 205 races, second team is CircleCycle with 146. In the next table we see teams against we rode more than 50 races and win/lose percentage:

3: Already answered in the last post, it's Ciccio Sport / RS Coesitz, if we just count >50 races it's Team-Mojabahs/Falkenbier.

I have a bigger winning percentage against Gip (17%) than against T-Mobile-A (14%) [half point for Gips guess], I have a higher loss percentage against CircleCycle (23%) than against Team Seven Down (22%) [half point for Roby]

So it's a tie 1.5:1.5 between Roby and Gip in the quiz

Trakhtenbrot opens 5 GC win club

Boaz Trakhtenbrot is the first A&D rider to win 5 stage races. He overtook our team leader Franz Schwackhöfer today at the Tour de la Provence. These are the only 2 riders winning GCs at stage races.

Franz joins 15 Wins Club

The 33 year old Franz Schwackhofer is the second and youngest member of the 15 Wins Club. He won another TT at Volta ao Algarve and conquering yellow at least for a day. Franz needed just 124 races to reach 15 wins. He was not riding much in the last months and just supported the team in the one day races team time trials were he could contribute to another 3 team wins.

Franz joins 5 GC win club

Franz Schwackhöfer could defend his yellow jersey he conquered at the individual TT at Algarve in yesterdays final stage. He went in the race with 21s to the stronger climber Satoru Gojo (Pokemonogatari) but could profit from the better form of his helpers. After isolating Gojo and following the right wheel he finished in the same group and won his 5th GC in his 125th race at the age of 33.

February 2022

8.248 points and a back-to-back Division 1 win. Due to missing the Belgian season opener at the end of the month we were not able to collect most points in February and A&D is starting from place 2 into March. First time in 2022 A&D is not on top. We were able to win 7 races (2x Trakhtenbrot at Valenciana, 2x Detreköi, Schwackhöfer, Hinton, Oetker). No big wins but 2 wins but 3 wins at cat 3 stage races. We also could win 3 GC at stage races (2x Trakhtenbrot, Valenciana+green jersey+team classification & Provence, Schwackhöfer at Algarve+team classification). So stage race and wins wise another very successfull month. Unfortunateley we couldn't participate at the Belgian season openers and therefore the mission for Wolfowitz to defend his double wins there was not reached.

Franz opens 10k club

Franz Schwackhöfer could win yesterdays 1st stage of the afternoon Paris-Nice stage race, conquered the leaders yersey and reached 10k eternal points as the first A&D rider to achieve this milestone at the age of 34 after 126 races. He is now also the first A&D rider who would reach more than 15 races, 10k eternal points and 5 GC wins combined. From all retired riders in the (flash) statistics we could only find 44 riders to achieve this combination and Erwin Schrödinger is one of them (Equipe Mathematique: 22 wins, 16.848 eternal points, 5 GC wins). From all active riders, just Louison Bobet could achieve this combination and even more (24 wins, 17.833 eternal points, 5 GC wins).

Boaz joins 15 Wins Club

After a disappointing first mountain stage in Catalunya, Boaz recovered fast and could win todays second mountain finish to achieve his 15th total win. He is now our youngest member of the 15 wins club (30 years) and he needed just 107 races for that. It is also a milestone for the team Alive & Dead as it was the 100th win.

March 2022

10.681 points and the third Division 1 win in a row. The Catalunya points are a bit suspicious but wouln'd make a big difference, in the end the team was about 1.300 points ahead. The team collected 10 wins (4x Hinton, 2x Trakhtenbrot, 2x Schwackhöfer, 1x Oetker, 1x Karatzoglou) one GC win (Trakhtenbrot winning Paris-Nimes Kat 4) and another podium (Trakthenbrot third at Catalunya Kat 4), Hinton winning points classement at Catalunya and morst important the monument Milano Sanremo. It is the first Kat 6 win for A&D (Schrödinger winning Lombardia for Equipe Mathematique). Additional to that Moustapha Faye got a second place at Dwars door Vlaanderen just beaten by millimeters by Gabel.

It was not surprising as he had 4.999 points after the finished Pais Vasco tour that Akos will join the 5k club after Amstel Gold Race. He could finish 10th but did some great help for Franz Schwackhöfer there.

August joins 10 wins club

After missing the season highlight for August he was fit again to win todays one day race "Klasika Primavera" which was the 10th win for August at the age of 30, after 105 races. It was an easy power demonstration and a double win (Trakthenbrot second).

Uwe was a pure flat rider as a helper for blocking and in some escapes. With 3 wins he was very successfull for a rider like that in our team.

A new rider is joining the team today, who is already experienced. The 31 year old climber Alo Taaramäe from Estonia will be a major help at the Giro d'Italia for Boaz Trakhtenbrot and in future big races for August Oetker. He already rode 45 races for Mosca and won 2 races, 1 stage race (Arctic Tour) and also the youth riders classement at Arctic. He comes to A&D with 2.429 eternal points and will probably be a leader in the team if an early retriement of Boaz seems reasonable.

Boaz youngest 10k club member

Boaz Trakhtenbrot is the second rider to join our 10k eternal points club after winning todays last stage, GC and green jersey at Tour de Romandie. He reached it after 129 races at the age of 32. He reached this goal earlier than Franz but needed 3 races more for it. He is now our leading rider with 19 stage races and already achieved 8 tour wins (including Tour de Romandie, Pais Vasco and Paris Nimes)

13.286 points and the for the first time in 2022 the team is just 2nd in Division 1.

Hinton by far rider of the month with his MSR win, a green jersey and totally 4 wins. We achieved 8 wins (3x Trakhtenbrot, 2x Oetker, 1x Nöbauer, 1x Detreköi). A stage race win by Trakhtenbrot (Pais Vasco, + Team Classification) and a podium for Oetker (2nd Tour of the Alps). Last day of Romandie already on the 1st of May so this will be reported next month. The classics were ok, Schwackhöfer finished 3rd in his probably only one day race (except for ITT or TTT) in a weird Amstel race. Nöbauer won Paris Roubaix (1st win here for the team and overall 2nd Monument win) with a tactical race. Akos finished 4th at Vlaanderen Mooiste after postponing the race due to technical issues. The next technical issues postponed Tour of the Alps by a day and the team made the bad decision to go for Oetker there ending up in a hard fight against Alkworlds Bobet. So Oetker was missing for LBL (which was meant to be his season highlight) were the team didn't play a big role, Detreköi somewhere behind in the beaten group, Trakhtenbrot somewhere in the sprint group for place 4 but chanceless. Other classics and monuments were missed due to stage race participation that was, all in all successfull.

Rider of the month is Wilfired Nöbauer, winning PR, is a reason enough. It is his 1st ever win and he probably will not win anything else in his carreer.

The now 31 year old Alo Taaramäe joins the team for the GIRO, Uwe Schöning and Alexandros Karatzoglou retired (see earlier post for details). No young rider for the first time since November but the team is big now and the core team for the coming 12 month is already signed.

Boaz opens 20 wins club

Boaz Trakhtenbrot won todays one day race "Mercan Tour Classic" solo on the last hill. It was his 20. win. After winning Pais Vasco (+2 stages), Tour de Romandie (+2 stages, + green jersey) and the GIRO (0 stages) he is also on top of the RSF riders table, wearing the RSF leader jersey (6.658 points).
