Re: Los Galacticos
Lievin - Airon
It's done...
At the beginning of his career Leandro daSouza met a young guy from Germany. His name was Tommy Schnappauf and he was in the same age as Leandro. But that wasn't the only affinity between these young guys. Tommy Schnappauf signed a contract for the team Quick-Step but only a few days later he changed to the RV Allagen where he grows up and becomes a really good sprinter with his skills at the mountain! So from the beginning on there was a big rivalry between these both and between the both managers aswell.
Leandro always worked out better and he was also more successful than Schnappi! But when they met each other in a race Leandro seemed to have a blockade, he reaches nearly nothing.
But today this time is over! Schnappi changed the team again in the meantime and today they met each other in a race again after a long time. But this time it ended different. Leandro got the win, his first win against Tommy Schnappauf in the winter of the successful career of the best hilly sprinter of this generation.
It was his 21st victory of his career and the 40th for Los Galacticos. Milano-San Remo, we are ready to get ya!!

Re: Los Galacticos
Hall of Fame
1. Alejandro Espinoza
Alejandro Espinoza
Mitglied beitreten!
Alejandro Espinoza
284 Rennen
5 Siege
4 Bergtrikots
3. Platz Tirreno-Adriatico
2. Platz Tour of the Welsh Dragon
6249 ewige Punkte

2. Leandro da Souza
A history of success
When Leandro daSouza was bought at the 4th of March 2009, the team had an inexact plan about having a hilly sprinter like the legend Kralju Kralev. So Leandro was bought with the start skills of 50-55-66-50-82 and he exercised very well in the following months. His helpers developed very well too and when Kim Braaten joins the team the plan was fullfilled and the way of success begun.
His first victory was the 5th stage of the Tour de Romandie '09 where he was able to beat Urs Flückiger from Falkenbier. There he was only 23 years old. With 24 he added one victory to his palmares. In July he won the 3rd stage of the Tour of Austria and one unimportant race as well. One stage in August and 2 stages in September followed after that. In October he had one of his most successful months by winning Paris-Bourges and the GP Beghelli. Furthermore he reaches a 3. place at Paris-Tours.
November was then the most successful month with 6 victories and the sprint jersey ot the Norge Rundt.
In december he added 4 stages, the sprint jersey and the tour win of the Tour du Centre.
January 2010 brought him the win and the sprint jersey of the Tour Down Under, but no stage. In February he was able to win 3 stages and in March he added 2 stages, one of them a stage of Paris-Nice, where he won the sprint jersey as well.
All in all this were 25 stages, 2 tour victories and 4 sprint jerseys.
He needed 210 races for this and collected 9527 points.
He is now the second best hilly sprinter(stage wins) and the best brazilian rider of all times.
Leandro wanted to thank Kim Braaten, his best friend and best helper here because he was one of the main reasons for his success.
He said: " When you talk about Leandro's career, you have to mention Kim Braaten, this incredible helper who brought me countless times to the finish line."
Leandro daSouza
210 races
25 stages
2 tour wins
4 sprint jerseys
9527 eternal points.
A legend retires! We want to thank Allagen and all of the others for the nice fights.

3. Benjamin Gourgue
Today Benjamin Gourgue and the team had a meeting and they decided to end his contract from now on. The races in the following months were so few that he had no power to train for this anymore. Its a very sad decision for the whole team but we will never forget what Ben did for our team. Hopefully nobody buys him from the transfermarket. He dont want to do more races. His career is over.
Benjamin Gourgue came to the team at the 21st of April 2010 and immediately became our new leader beside Callado. Before this he was in the team of VC Aywaille from the beginning of his career. His first race then was the famous Fleche Wallone where the 23 year old belgian became 5th at the end. A excellent result in this age. One month later in May he continued his way of success with several podiums at the Giro d'Italia. At the end he became 5th in General Classement as well as he won the white jersey there.
2 months later, after he trained up to 88 mountain he started at the Tour de France for our team and again he showed some great performances by winning the stages up to Morzine and to St. Jean de Maurienne. At the end he became 3rd in GC with that. Some days after the Tour he also won the little criterium "California Cup". At the end of August the 3rd big tour started with the Vuelta and again Ben was our leader for this tour. He won again 2 stages, the stage to Malaga and the one up to the Cotobello in the last week. In the end he was again 5h in GC.
In October he was then able to win the Giro dell Emilia, a Cat. 4 classic race in Italy. This was the last step to become a cycling legend for our team.
At the end of this month a second stage win followed at the Tour du Jura where he became 2nd at the end. In November, while the Campeonato de los Andes, he won 2 little and unimportant races. At this moment its still missing a tour win for him, but this should end at the end of November, when he was able to win the Kerala Tour, incl. the points jersey and 1 stage.
One day after this Tour he was also able to win the Fleche Jurassienne, a RSF-classic race (Cat. 3). Another big win which made him at least to a candidate for the best climber in 2010.
December was his last month and he wanted to end his career by winning so that he started for the Memorial Laurent Fignon with a maximum of motivation so that he was able to win the stage up to the Puy de Dome and at the end he also got his second tour win against strong opponents like Kokorin of Flinders.
Again one day later in his last race for the team he won the Alpe Fuori Challenge, a self designed race.
Benjamin Gourgue is the first rider to jump over the wall of 10.000 eternal points for our team. So that it is no question that he will be invited into our Hall of Fame as number 3 after Leandro da Souza and Alejandro Espinoza.
At the end some stats about him...

Mitglied beitreten!
Alejandro Espinoza

Classic Haribo
Leandro again...
Today it was a race, Leandro and the classics sprinters against Superwurst and his Peer Pils. A 5 man group at the beginning was no problem to Edson Barroso and Co. so that the field reaches the last mountain nearly complete.
The last mountain was 18 kms before the finish where Castillo and others raised their tempo up so that Peer Pils falls 15 seconds behind the big group with Leandro! With the help of the classics sprinters the group saves 11 seconds to the finish where Leandro shows another time his incredible strenght in the sprint. His 22nd victory and the 3rd one in february.
We still don't know how it will go on after Leandros career end in 1 or 2 months!

Omloop Het Volk
The beginning of the pavé season
Today the team started in belgium in the first classic race of 2010 Omloop Het Volk, a hilly/pavé race.
At the beginning a group of 2 Celtics, 1 Ariostea and Adriano Perreira from the own team attacks away from the bunch. They got about 10 minutes but then the favorites started to controll the bunch.
With about 3 minutes left the group abandoned and in this moment there was the first attack behind out of the bunch by Sebastian Holsten and Jorge Felicandes. But after a few kms the tempo was raised by Ariostea so that there was no chance for both and they were catched.
Now the race was very open and there were a lot of attacks but no dangerous group.
The long flat part at the end was well controlled by Killers and TX but on the last pavé part 4 kms away from the finish Malte Breuer used his chance, after waiting a long time before, by attacking out of the group. A lot of guys tried to follow him but at the end it was only Patrice Esnault from Celtic who was able to follow this strong attack. In the final sprint Esnault seems to be the winner but with full power Malte Breuer reaches the final line as the first one.
A big win for the little team Nozalteam!
In the group behind Ignacio Castillo reaches the 10th overall place. Kim Braaten, the captain for today got a very disappointing 25th place at the end.
Tomorrow the season will be continued by the half classic Kuurne-Bruxelles-Kuurne.

Cyclist of the month( February)
With only 15 races this month and only one winner its not very difficult to guess who is the cyclist of this month.
There is only one candidate, the incredible Leandro da Souza!
He won all 3 stages so that the team decided that they won't nominate another one this time.
Congratulations Leandro!

Re: Los Galacticos
Season balance February
3 vicctories in 15 races
The february was a very calm month for the team. The manager checked out of "Hotel Mama" and he also begun his new employment in the first half of this month so that the team rested some days, but after that there was especially one well known guy who gains a lot of points and 3 races aswell.
Of course it's Leandro daSouza. He has now 22 victories in his career and March will be the most important month of his lifetime. La Primavera, the most important race for a hilly sprinter like him, will be celebrated at the 20th of March!
A financially desaster in february with less than 200k profit forced the team to sell JoseArturo Vidal to buy a cheaper helper!
So now we are on to present this new rider and say some little words to the career of JoseArturo.
Jose comes to the team with 21 years and skills of 55-73-76, he was coached to become a helper for Leandro daSouza and more and more he growed up to an good allrounder! His best skills at the end were 69-82-76. A perfect helper for Leandro, so that his destiny was to work a lot for the team. A very successfull wok but he has surrender his own interests for that. But when he got the chance to drive for his own, he always shows up some good results as for example the 3. place in spring classic race "Fleche Wallone" or the 2. place at the GP de Fourmies. But he also won one thing, the little race GP de Samer in June '09!
He contest in 193 races for the Galacticos, it's for the moment the 3. place in the history of the team. Thereby he collected 1655 eternal points.
Anyway the most important part was his work for Leandro so you can say that he has a big influence on the 22 victories of Leandro too.
Thank you Jose anf good luck for the rest of your career!

I know that, i was in Monieux 2 years ago for cycling, haven't seen any pave there!
But since his childhood he was every holiday in Roubaix with his parents. So he likes to drive on pavé, unfortunately he is not able to do it that good on normal roads, neither uphill nor downhill.

Clasica de Almeria
Live long Leandro...
The "Clasica de Almeria" today was a race for sprinters with only 2 little mountains at halftime of the race, but today something totally unexpected happend. After a "sieb" from Strohhutbande the best sprinters are behind the group of Leandro and some others. After that they remaining sprint teams in front worked so good together that they reached the finish line without the best sprinters. Leandro then got the right wheel and won the sprint with only milimeters before Esteban Trueba!
His 23. victory today is also one of the most beautiful ones!
But today it was only possible because we worked so good in the first group.

Re: Los Galacticos
Paris-Nice
Crazy?
Yesterday the team traveled to France to start at the "race to the sun"! Last year we started in Italy to become 3rd with Espinoza at the end! This time its a special tour again, with 481k salary it is the most expensive tour team of the history!
The team wants to win at least one stage and the green jersey at the end. Perhaps there is a chance to win the red one aswell! This will be the only chance to contain the losings at the end of the tour. We hope to get many points and a stage win! Money is secondary, but a little bit of profit is okay too.
After the first 2 stages the team has a 3rd place of Leandro in the sprint today and a loss of only about 118k!

Re: Los Galacticos
Paris-Nice
Step 3 and 4
Yesterday the final with a +4 sprint was an open race but with the help at the last km by Egsdorfer we got a sprint but then the big mistake by Leandro, his wheel sprinted from 50m and he didn't have a teammate to take him oh his own wheel. So at the end there was a very disappointing 7th place.
Today there was the last difficulty 3 kms away from the finish line but a strong selection forced the team behind the big stars so that Leandro only reached the 8th place.
With about 250k losings and some very unlikeable managers in the field we ware very sad and angry about this tour for the moment. Tomorrow will be the mountain step and it will be the first time that youngster Alejandro DeLaTorre is captain of the team. The rest of the team can relax and ragain power for the following stages where the team wants to win at least one stage hopefully.

Re: Los Galacticos
Paris-Nice
Jorge the Great!
Today it was a race for the climbers, the deciding stage of the tour probably! Jorge Felicandes goes into the first group of the day and he profits from the fight for red so that he got pulled a long time. 40 kms before the finish with about 8:30 in front he starts to make tempo with the last cyclist of schelmo. In the bunch there was no big action so that the 2 rescued about 7 minutes when the last climb started. Wesley Boogerd started his attack 3 kms before the end and was able to reduce the lead to 2:47, Jorge won this stage with about 40 seconds before Paul Manu (schelmo) and he leads now the GC with 1:43 in front of the second Wesley Boogerd.
A great day for the team and totally unexpected. Now Jorge wears the yellow and the white jersey as well. A win of about 100k is a great bonus for that too.
With 24 years Jorge got his first victory after winning a mountain jersey 2 months ago. Great!

Re: Los Galacticos
Paris-Nice
2 stages and 3 jerseys
Today was the last day from Paris-Nice and with no problems the team defeated again all attacks for the GC-classement so that Jorge Felicandes can now call himself winner of 18h Paris-Nice!
The day after his win at the deciding stage it was Leandro daSouza who was able to win for the second time for the team in this tour. At the end he won the sprint jersey. But thats not all, Felicandes also won the yound riders classement and the team won the teams classement as well. Both times it was the first time to win this thing in the historie of Los Galacticos.
A financial win of 695.560 € shows that the expensive 481k team was a very good investion!
The money was then directly reinvested by selling Sebastian Holsten and by buying a new sprint talent which will join us next month.
Guilherme Callado is a young sprinter from Santos, Brazil. He should become the next hilly sprinter and the follower of superstar Leandro da Souza.
His skills: 50-58-73-48-81
The generation change is now nearly completed except of the two legends -the dream duo Braaten-daSouza!!
