Quick google search (german):
"Vaffanculo" (oft abgekürzt als
vfc oder vfcl) ist ein vulgärer italienischer Kraftausdruck, der wörtlich "fick dich ins Arschloch" bedeutet, aber meistens als "leck mich am Arsch", "verpiss dich", "Fahr zur Hölle" oder "hau ab" verwendet wird. Es ist eine sehr starke Beleidigung, die im Deutschen "fickt euch" oder "du kannst mich mal" entspricht.
So I guess thats pretty serious?

If it really means "vaffanculo", it is an insult or at least offensive language, but is it that serious or such a strong insult? I wouldn't say it is as serious as "Wichser" for example, but who am I to judge. In German, I would rank it in the same category as "leck mich", "leck mich doch" oder "leck mich am Arsch".
I would even say that in Italy, it is a rather common insult and not seen as very severe. Maybe a not involved Italian could enlighten us about the severness of telling somebody "vaffanculo"... At least I would not trust people who have to google the meaning of it to decide how severe it is when deciding a penalty.

I never said I am able to judge the seriousness, I even marked it as a question. At least I could contribute to get closer to the meaning of it (even if it was just googling). But good idea, maybe someone from Italy can classify that a bit.
