Campeonato de los Andes 2024

End of August and a great Andes design needs time, so it's time to search for a designer.

Schnuggeritos did it last year. Would you like to do it again, with the knowledge you gained last year? Or does someone else want to take the opportunity?

If there is a volunteer: go for it! I was told by the few surviving legends of last edition that Schnuggeritos edition was way to hard. :D

If there is/are no volunteer(s) I can do a less deadly version ;)

So what is the target with Andes? We could go in the direction of a mountain-focused tour where classics or even sprinters get a couple of stages. In this case, we just keep the crazily long mountain stages to reflect the spirit of the race. The other option is to keep it as hard as last year, maybe do a bit fewer dirt roads, ignore the low participation, and keep it the strange spectacle for the teams interested in it.

I'd like to, if nobody else really wants to design.

But there were some discussion if I remember about participations or something like that?

I would create another andes once again too, but i also would like to see takas approach, i would also change my approach from the last times i designed and would go a bit easier on the profiles sinilar to what radunion proposed.

But totally happy if i keep my design ideas for antoher year somewhen in the future and let taka do the design.

Of course the Donkey has his Andes ready since 10 years ago or so, all I need to do is put the stuff in. But doesn't feel motivated to that this year either, so pass again!

As far as I know Andes was always supposed to be a extreme tour mostly for mountain riders. Dirt roads are fine, but I think we need much less of those more difficult road surfaces

So many posts, cool. I summarize:

- Schnugg
- Taka
- Hansa

But Hansa is the most motivated and Schnugg & Taka are happy with Hansa designing it ?

Andes Andes Andes!

1 TTT
1 Mountain ITT
4 Flat Stages
5 Hilly Stages
5 HC Stages

harder, crazier, more brutal?

NO! The riders complaint is heard, the calender is to full to hard and its to hot!

But Andes are the Andes so dont think it will be easy!

2726 km (shorter than last 3 years)
52650 HM (around 20% less than last 3 years)
Some Gravel parts (but less than the last 3 years)
Rare Pave parts

This year only in Peru and Bolivia (less flying and less transfers than the last 3 years)

Stage 1 TTT with Pave in Cusco
Stage 7 over 100km continues climbing up Paso Ticlio
Stage 8 another Very long climb, to reach the top of the tour the Minasniyuq at nearly 5000m
Stage 9 256km with 6050 HM and still a possibility to beat the climbers
Stage 12 ITT on the Camino de la muerte
Stage 13 Climbing La Cumbre on the way to La Paz
Stage 15 ending the Tour with the hardest finishing Climb of the Tour near Muylaque

I used these categorization Guidelines again,

no i cant, since we have a new editor the link (at least the one i used) doesnt work anymore)
but its much better visible ingame in the editor anyways, just go to profile editor, delete the active filter and filter for designer Hansa and name andes, all of them should appear then, they are named andes01-andes15 only stage 6 is andes6

I put it in the Calendar Preview for you (even easier to click through).

There's no need for the rest day in my opinion, stages 5 and 6 are kind of a rest day especially with the long downhill. And the second part is of the tour is easy, so skipping the rest day would fit in.

Rest day is needed for the managers ;) Ideally on the weekend for the morning teams

the rest day is with the current offseason preview on a saturday if i am correct.

Maybe the restday is not needed, maybe it is needed for escapers. the rest day also gives the ability on the day before to try some big moves.

and the rest day also is needed for the rider transfer.

and 10+ stage tours should have a restday according to UCI.

Also i think it fits for the tour to have the restday there.
