Of course the presentation is not sexy, as I already said, time was missing to do a great presentation. And I know there are beautiful pictures in this region... that's how I finish stage 11, just before the entry of this awesome old village of Kaukaban:

Image

Stage 10: SHIT! SHIT! SHIT! Think I forgot to change the name of the final city, it's not Sana'a, this was from an older version I've created, aaahhhhrrrggg, this stage ends in Thula! Bah, Going westward from Amran for about 20 km, then to the south/south east toward Thula. Baaaahhh

Stage 12:This one doesn't end on the Wadi Road, I just pass the Wadi Road once, before starting the Sana'a circuit. The finish will be on the Algiers Road, in the south of the center of Sana'a.

ok, ok. This one I have to show, the rock castle in Wadi Dahr, woohoo!

Image

Ah, designed all with Google Earth, with nothing else, but I tried to draw it as real as possible and I think some "saws" are regular there, but not sure... :P

The monkeyindex for this years tours:

The calculation is ultrasecret of course:

ok ok....

3 parts:
- presentation, sexy and informative, 6 points max , two subparts
reality, meaning weather, infrastructure (roads basically) doability (transfers, hotels, Bandits and revolutionaries in Jemen and Kurdistan). 6 points max 3subarts
- Balance of the stages, balance of GC (open, predictable) , buildup, designing itself (Rome faires badly), expected "action" how hard is it how many unpredictable situations can be expected (does that make them predictable?) plus "cult stages"which are basically the stages the ape would really like to ride or is interested in. Something special, something that looks interesting basically. max 18

Capetown 23
Sheik 22
Brazil 19
Kurdistan 19
Udine 18
5 Länder 15
Rome 11

The apish presentation award goes to BRAZIL
The reality award goes to CAPETOWN
The tour itself award goes to SHEIK

WHITE, we finally have a white jersey, not that ugly grey!Thank you Falkenbier, very nice choice!

Let's hope Buhmann just keeps that nice fantastic brilliant white instead of going back. After all in reality the jersey is white, not
grey.

Nice. But nobody can read anything that way...

It depends on the board style you use I guess.

But not in races. There are no styles to choose.

Ah, ok. But I don't really think the white is that hard to read. Agree, grey is easier to read, a bit, but I find it really ugly. On the blue part IMO white even is no problem, as readable as grey . In the lighter part... ok. But.. yellow is not really that easy to read either

I say: STICK WITH WHITE! WHITE POWER! No more minarets! Ah, eh ok, no wait...

Just keep the white jersey white.

At least it doesn't cause eyecancer. The green Sheikh-jersey is really bad...

The best solution, anyway, would be to place a coloured jersey next to the riders name, just like it's done with the national champions, instead of writing the whole line in the regarding colour, including rider name, skills and team name.

The election for the December Tour went a bit unlucky this year. Not only that the winning race overstayed the deadline for registration, but it also took profit of not having a rest day. While for previous editions a rest day was obligatory (as far as i remember) in order to give every tour the same chances. Most probably the Sheik Tour incurred many votes by missing that rest day.

The rules were not as clearly defined as in previous years. There is room for improvement for the next year.

Rest day was not obligatory last year either. I think SPIH had none as well. 3 Ländertour and Balkan the same I think. Last year it was max 12 days (maybe there was a minimum) , max one rest day, max one day with 2 stages, no extreme specialist tour.
This year it was 12-14 days the rest exactly the same.
Voting procedure was a bit unclear this year, yes, respectively it was announced, not perfect IMO, then changed when it was time for the second round.

IMO the exact voting procedere can wait until October or so, the rest maybe would be nice to have it as soon as possible.

Length 09 12: 10 12-14 11: ? (I like 12-14)
Obligatory rest day: ?
Any other new proposals: ?

Rest, the max 1 half stage, no specialist tour seems guaranteed to stay.

That would be nice to know as early as possible.

More disappointing IMO btw the almost complete lack of comments about the tours generally. Basically the ape and NoPik wrote something, the rest didn't seem to care. Why not praise, criticize, whatever the tours or write what you like and what not, maybe some feedback helps us participants to design a tour with better chances a year later.

Ah, ok. No rest day obligation last year. Then maybe the year befoe? Don't know. There is something about that in my memory. Maybe it was just the maximum of one rest day, but no minimum. However, rest days diminish the chances of a tour, as long as not every tour has one in it.

Not caring? For me I can say I don't mind writing much about the tours or giving reasons for my vote. I just look at the tours and give my vote. That's it.

I can imagine most users couldn't write anything more than "this tour suits my team so I vote for it". There are not much objecitve sights on them. No sense for beauty. No interest for nice presentations or the sceneries of the landscapes surrounding the routes. They only vote what would promise the best chances for them.

Well, we don't really know that if they don't write anything

As usual, some probably yes, others probably no.

Rest day... of course you're right it diminishes the chances if there is one. Working to eliminate my one in 2011 now..Maybe a fixed rule "1 rest day" or "0 rest days" (mmh, why plural with 0? Is zero plural? Or is Plural really not plural but not 1?) would be better.

1 Ruhetag

Works in German too. But why?

Marzahn?

OK, back on topic maybe..

Yes, ontopic ...

I think if really the chances for tours to be voted rely on the question if they have a rest day or not, then I would say that every tour should have the same amount of rest days...

Dear Mr Ossies

Can we have the definite rules for the dec. tour?

Last year it was:
Tour limits:
10-14 days with maximal 1 rest day.
max. 1 day with half-races.

No extrem tour
( no Anden or Pavés Tour or extrem flat one)

Design Time :
until 31.October.
Will that stay the same? Or changes?

Some proposed changes:
- fixed rest days, either 0 or 1, but for all the same, so not to give an advantage to tours with no rest day, which are very likely more popular (proposed by Luna)
- Do the runner up of the competition in January. ''Since there is only shit there anyway'' according to the proposer skullz at least.

No real opinion on both proposals from my side.. nr 1 sounds fair, but then maybe if you decide on 0 and I design a tour that really needs a rest day for a transfer kind of sucks but ok, sounds fair with a fixed nr. second one like the idea of using 2 of the tours in the competition, like it a lot, but clogs up the fantasy calendar more. then the first part of january is closed too...

Anyway, can we have the rules for the dec tour competition 2012, the ape for example wants to start fine tuning his entry, would be nice to know the number of days that are allowed.

New rules:
1 rest day for every tour is OK. Maybe at best on Saturday.

Tour limits:
10-14 days with 1 rest day.
max. 1 day with half-races.

No extrem tour
( no Anden or Pavés Tour or extrem flat one)

Design Time :
until 31.October.

ok, clarification needed.

1 rest day is obligatory now, correct? but please don't decide the day as well, the ape at least likes to have some leeway on when to have this rest day.

Any thoughts on using 2 tours?

In this case you should clarify the date of the tour, so we can know where the saturday is in the tour.

Yes, we need a little bit more information, I hope that the rest day isn't allowed...
