Lot of tours in May and lot of them cut as well.
Especially because they are in parallel with GIRO.

Still times of Giro to be defined, giving a bit more of time for people to answer the topic, other tours times will be adapted to Giro times.

Started designing Giro in the important races forum. But as usual, they like to change stuff at end of April, so let's see...

We also discuss times there. 9-14-18-21-23 still seems be the most logical. If only 4 times then 9-14-19-22. But participation still OK for 5 times I think. Many people seem to like 22 recently but makes it difficult with 5 times then, I guess. 20-22 not really better than 21-23 I'm afraid. Would probably mean a huge 22h race but then the 20h is probably much smaller than the 21h... So I keep favoring 9-14-18-21-23. If it doesn't work well, can try something different for TdF. By the way, Giro with a lot of 200+ km stages, that's why 9 probably better than 10, 14 probably better than 15, etc.

Times I'll analyze the survey tomorrow, and add my mustard here.

Dunkerque: Yep, not in.
2 reasons:
1) Active managers, 5 times Giro. Plus California and Dunkerque? Plus 1 day races? Would be 2+2 the tours, and 4 one day races. We don't have the numbers for that right now I fear. Like this, only one of the 2, should be 5 Giro, 3 California. + one day races.
2) Who designs it? Not me. But the way I see my job is that I do the clean up. And since we've had an impressive 2 months of ignoring designing (except Tukhtahuaev and Feiting Siebing) the risk that I would have ended up designing it as clean up... too big. So no, no Dunkerque. My first proposal to Luques btw had only the Giro and Romandie, nothing else, just fantasy btw.... consider yourselves lucky that Luques is the boss.

Ok, Giro times:

My proposal to Luques will be:

9-15-19-21-23
10-14-18-20-22

1 for the Giro, o1 for the Tour. Right now my proposal would be the first one for the Giro, second one for the Tour. But can be mixed up as well, I see it as 2 blocks, morning+afternoon one block, rest the other block.

9-15 + 10-14 to me looks good for Giro Tour. 9-14 are the early office times, for people that start early, leave early, go to lunch early. So we have 1 of those times for each tour. And one for the later ones, to me looks perfect. 9-15 for Giro because it seems they "won" the survey... if I counted right.

Evening is more complicated. 19-21-23 close together, 18-20-22 as well. But what else to put in? 17... did ok in the survey, well 2 people said no problem, 4 points, 18-19 got 6 points, so... I'd still ignore it, the usual participation numbers are quite clear, 17 generally doesn't do too well. If anything maybe the Tour, holidays for our schoolboys... But rather not. Of course 17-20-22 and 18-21-23 would look nicer, but IMO 17 too weak.

So... 18-20-22 for the Giro or the Tour?
Pro Giro: - The Survey was for the Giro, 22 quite a bit more popular than 23. Fuck those 23h people, that didn't show up here. If they exist...
Pro Tour: - Probably Italian life is a bit "later" than French life? So having 23 for the Italias for the Giro would be nice to them.

Anyway, if only the Giro or the Tour is at 22, the other at 23, what do the pro 22 people prefer? Giro or Tour?

Maybe to throw in from last year:

GIRO
9h: 7
15h: 8
18h: 11
20h: 11
23h: 11

TOUR
9h: 12
14h: 7
18h: 8
21h: 10
23h: 14

VUELTA
10h: 11
16h: 6
19h: 10
22h: 14
24h: 4

What do we learn here? Well, 9/10 probably both OK, but 9 won the survey, mh.... so one should get Giro, one should get Le Tour? For 14/15 probably the same is true. Evening is more difficult. Maybe life in Europe is a bit more skewed to the later hours in July? So if we stay with the Donkey proposal, perhaps
GIRO 10-14-18-20-22
TOUR 9-15-19-21-23

because the later hours may be better in July than in May.
Or we switch morning/afternoon because of the survey?
GIRO 9-15-18-20-22
TOUR 10-14-19-21-23

By the way, I am still not sure about the 18-20-22 vs. 23. I kind of fear, that 22 will be huge but 18-20 will suffer a bit. Also, still not sure if anybody says, they can ONLY ride 23 and not 22...

So if you want to play it safe, 9-15-18-21-23 is probably also a good choice for GIRO. Only downside would be, that you would probably have less changes for the Tour then. I don't really like the 18-20-22 for Le Tour after reviewing that last year 23h was the strongest and 21h stronger than 18h.

Good point!!!

How does 07.05. (checked, no annoying 1.2 races Luques might draw it seems) for flat pavé and 27.05 for hilly sound?
Or other ideas?

Himmerland Rundt should have some part of dirty road, probably not the pavè you want however

I assume that means fixed and finalized, written in stone now that 24h have passed!

So soon stuff online. Except that the tool has decided to order a break....
California finished, see above

Giro.
Gipfel has done it (thanks) well hidden though..... What's next, we design in in the 57th post of my press center?

Anyway, is Gipfel happy with everything, was all the cool Giroinfo on on the Giro site on already?

Sorry for hiding Giro 2019 in the Giro 2019 thread. So here it comes.

Final Information came 1-2 weeks ago, depending on the stage. May need your help on these three things:
- Opinions about Mintact? Found that difficult on a few stages.
- Do you find/know anything about cobbles/dirt road for Giro 2019? Could find 0km, but is there really nothing?
- POINTS: Would be nice to have real life points but couldn't find a good source. Is it same regulation as 2018? Can only find the 2018 regulation on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2018_Giro ... leadership
- JERSEYS: Luques, can you make it real life colors?

Ideally I'd like to put the Giro on between 11-14h today. Away from my beloved PC for 3 days after that, ok my wife's laptop... if she lets me use it. But the earlier the better anyway.

Pavé gravel nothing as far as I know.. might be some short stretches of city pavé, but irrelevant really.

Points is something Luq will have to adjust later, so has time...

Mintact: mine would have been different (longer) in most stages, so I'll refrain from commenting in detail, would take too long!
