Re: October 2012
Pavé last km *
It's first 450 meters at the start of the last km roughly, easy pavé, so * is enough, then the last meters pavé again, goal on pavé... pave then continues for another max 500 meters... all together it's almost 1 km, but in 2 bits. Could have made the first km of the lap * too, so 2 pavé kms, but wasn't in the mood, so it's just the last km that is *.

The ape ordered RKL to draw Beijing.
Ah, about the preview, some comments: (as usual)
Tour of Hangzhou :Cancelled this year.
Japan Cup and Chrono des Herbiers both on the 21st, no reason to change that IMO.
Beijing: Since it's WT maybe cat 3? Like Eneco etc that are not really that important either.
Then: Mosell on the 8th, Bielsko on the tenth. I would propose starting the RSF fantasy classics after the 14th. Not in the middle of the season end somehow. See the fantastic general discussion thread for details.

Started Beijing, stage 2 the infos not up yet. Will come with the others later.
Mmh, last year all 0, this year some +1/-1.. bah
The most difficult stage. They are idiots. Real idiots. They have 2 roughly 2000 meter high mountains, and they do the "mountain finish" at Badaling?
Not too happy with it somehow got 5 km too long, then I'm not really sure if the end is the end they do..., map just not precise enough, but I hope it is.. through a tunnel, down a bit, last km up at 6%. The 6 the only "siebable" km in the last climb...

Re: October 2012
Hey people,
here is a proposal for the offseason calendar we made after discussions in the... discussion-forum.
Colors:
- yellow = real races
- blue = classic and fix fantasy races
- green = proposed "main" fantasy races.
Of course the dates (and the position of every fantasy classic) are only indications, in a way that seems allright for us.
You must remember for the winter-season that european races won't be a big success, since we have the real weather !
Also, we suggest to have most of those races in a relatively significant category, 3 for instance. I'm too lazy to check what it used to be right now
Excepted for the "grey" green in january, which are totally new races, that should be lower probably.
About the second "december tour" in january, we suggest that another vote (in 2 rounds, imho) is organised with the tours that didnt win the first competition. More people will be rewarded for their nice work in this way. And it will (kind of) avoid any voting bias by having a new vote and not picking tour nr 2 from the first vote or something like that.
There is also the Jura Tour. The designer is not around, so we have 3 options: 1/Cut it 2/Keep an old version 3/Pick a new designer. Our opinion on this subject was mitigated
Other guidelines:
-Parallel to the main tours, don't make it possible to ride more than 2 short stageraces, please. If you want to put more in the calendar, OK. But please make them overlap each other !
-Hmm I probably forgot some stuff I cant remember right now...
Anyway, we hope this will help organizing the winter a little bit. Good luck!

Re: October 2012
good stuff you propose...like the idea....
"I'm an old-school sprinter. I can't climb a mountain but if I am in front with 200 metres to go then there's nobody who can beat me.” Mark Cavendish, at the 2007 Eneco Tour
Re: October 2012
Great stuff. For Jura I suggest we take an old version, it's a little short now to find a new designer who thinks of a new route etc... we could do that to find someone for next year rather. Anyways, keep Jura, it's an important race in RSF, it'd be sad to get rid of yet another mountain tour. Sooo, about new fantasy races, do you need designers to fill the calender, what are you suggestions NoPik? I'm in to draw one or two races in Asia / Oceania.

Re: October 2012
What's it mean, south... how far south?
Not that I wouldn't know what you mean, but see, there are a lot of countries where you could do races in some parts of them. Italy or Spain, if staying in the coastal areas, for example, are well possible, southern France too, but Central Spain or the Sierra Nevada is completly useless. Lot's of the Balkan countries are even more south, but usualy not possible due to continental climate.
So what I want is, basically, a guideline of how it is decided that a race is suitable for winter months. Cause elseway, I fear I may design quite suitable ones that will not be looked after as most of the country is not suitable for winter races.

Re: October 2012
Good question... I'm sure you knew that... and one that I can't answer.
Last info we got from management (buhsossies) was:
Real weather is: The weather forecast for the capital of the country the race is in. If that's still like that, lots of rideable places become too cold.. But ok, not the end of the world if we have a few 0 degree races either.. .remember a whole Andes at 0 degrees, grrr
But we really need leso to tell us if that's still like this, and if yes if there are plans to make it more precise in the near future.
But anyway, I think (don't really know) that we need quite a few "southern" races... if everybody just designed a few, excellent, then I could stop my massproduction that is already tiring me out.

Re: October 2012
Emilia done. Third version for the San Luca circuit in 3 years..
2010: -6 -1 6 -7 -6 -5 -1 10 10
2011: -4 -2 6 -4 -5 -5 -5 12 7
2012: -6 6 -5 -6 -4 -4 -1 11 9
Circuit a bitch though...
Down to 200 meters in 1,2km, 200 meters basically flat, up to 270 again in 1,1 or so again, top of this hill at pretty much 2,5 km... 3,8x km down at 5% average, 800 meters at -0,5%, then 2,1 km up.
Major changes:
- the -1 before the San Luca. -5 from last year was just wrong. It's 500 almost completely flat meters, 800 meters at -0,5%, the full km roughly -2% , -1,8% or -1,6% my brillant measurements said... but IMO in the end -1 fits best, most of the km is basically like that
- Last 2 km. Problem is... in both km the beginning is clearly the hardest... the hardest part of the climb is in the last km too, but the end is almost flat 10-10 would work too I think, but since the end is flat... ok 11-9
- The second hill 1 km earlier. It's exactly at 2,5 km of the circuit as I said, and makes it easier to draw the downhill somehow if it's earlier... otherwise either overdraw the downhill, like I did 2 years ago, or ignore the flat part, like was done last year. Plus the -2 or -1 we had there in 10+11 isn't really there.
Any ideas how to draw that perfectly are welcome though..
Ah, mintact 150, earlier ok, later no
