New route, same final circuit.
Hoxberg +3
Stromberg +3
Pilatusberg +2
Local knowledge welcome.

Image

same as last year

Image

The way I understand the roadbook, there is one additional lap and there is a GPM every lap (but one IS less in the beginning).

same as last three years

Ah, yes. 31st October we concluded? Fine for me.

Btw, for the offseason, if you already have ideas about the editions of each race (fantasy tours & offseason classics), you can let me know. Then I will add it for the PDF.

Paris Tours has changed a bit the route, will try to design it next weekend

had some time now. only minor changes : one less sector (0.5km) and less kms between the last hill and the finish line.
Took some time to look at the hills and sectors in details, made a few changes from the previous design (that was very old). I don't know why there was a *** as it's gravel. I'd be ok to have a *** to simulate the selectiveness of that first key sector after the climb; but it's very different to what we usually have on other races with gravel. So went back to **. If we have a *** for gravel here, why not in strade or other races where it makes sense also to increase the selectiveness of gravel road ?

Tour de Vendée announced a new route. but no details yet. will check again later.

Chrono des nations is the same, but I noticed there is one km too much in the previous design, need to remove the last km to make it 45kms; and finish on the 1% instead. Maybe they changed the end in the past years at some point and we did not notice.

2025 lombardia profile is up, in the first look looks like 2023 edition.

Just talked to "Hoefs". He is fine with me designing the TdP.

I will start doing it ...

Looks very much like it. In the final kms, there are around 200m of cobblestones during the last climb (steepest part, up to 12%). I think we've never had that shown in the profile so far. I guess they are not really important regarding the outcome of the race? (attacks, siebs, etc.) or is 200m just too little to have them in the profile?

Sten is happy to get a stage too, although he would fancy more a RVV typ stage. But I don't know what to think about halfstages in a stage race, that is well known for energy problems already.

My first TdP design. If more people see it this way, I can still change things. A shorter ITT, for example.

It's certainly one of the more difficult TdP designs, but in the end it's a tour for specialized riders and not all riders always have to start at 1000 energy. I think it can make racing interesting when Reg plays a bigger role in a few races per year. I'm writing this with Avg. Reg of 40.6 in my team :)

Does reg really play a bigger role? Everybody gets 2* reg value after the ITT, so the difference between 35reg rider and a 65 reg rider is just 60 energy. Compared to a longer TT (as regular stage not half stage), reg plays a minor role (just ITT/hilly half stages context). As noone will start fit after the ITT, this takes away some tactical opportunities IMO.

Reg plays a bigger role because it looks rather difficult to start the next day fit, if you have low reg. But tactical opportunities within the TT are pretty much nonexistant

I think I'll take the risk and leave it as it is. The second half-stage has a lot, a lot of downhill.

It's not the first time we get a half stage Itt. Don't see any issues with it, regeneration skill is part of the game.
