Anybody already planning to design the tour de paves this year?
I fear noone so far?

If there are no other options, we can re-surrect my failed TdP application Giro des Paves from 2018, when TdP was still a contest.

Just posting this as a threat so that someone starts designing a proper TdP :D

What are the rules for tdp? If i remember right we just use pave on normal roads wherever the Designer feels like it? Whatare the other rules? Mostly flat? Or hilly is fine? I would have sometime to draw sth but i have no clue about a pave tour also dont really plan to ride it.

Don't think there are any rules, but generally the characteristics are

- 5 Days
- Some Pave every day
- Strong Pave Riders should be candidates or even favorites for GC
- Each day is a 'Souvenir' for one heroic pave rider of the season (riders who performed great at the cobbled monuments/classics)
- It can be real-fantasy (fantasy race on real roads) or fantasy-fantasy (fantasy race on fantasy roads)
- It can be in any country in the world

I could also try to create something on real roads, but not sure, if I would be able to finish it in time

Maybe Hansa or someone else interested can design it with you ?
I think it's ok to have 2-3 designers :?: as long as you communicate a little to make it coherent !
I won't have time to help on that unfortunately.

But I'm still checking almost everyday tour du faso.

If there's no released info about the routes, what do we do ? someone design a fantasy tour du faso ? Do we have any info about what it looked like in the past years (lenght of stages, profiles, all on onroad or some dirt roads, etc ?) ?

PCS has the start, end and length of each stage, even though I have no clue how they know it, because I could not find it on Twitter or Facebook and their Website does not function

https://www.procyclingstats.com/race/tour-du-faso/2024

But it could be a start for designing something, if we don't get more info.

If there is still no info about it, and no one started anything, I could design something when I will have time from Sunday to Tuesday.
Either fantasy, fantasy based on start/arrival towns, or real profiles of last year; any preference ?

probably won't ride it, but 2023 route sounds as the best of those options to me

I am for using the published start/finish cities and design something around it. I can imagine it is possible because there aren't too many roads in developing countries and it will be mostly all flat anyway! Or wait a few more days and hope they publish something on Facebook/Twitter (Website seems dead but they are active there).

i am against a kinda fantasy design, normal fantasy off-season tours aren't that many days and also not that extreme in favorism towards one type of rider

then this is a race so low cat, it wouldn't even get considerations during the normal season

also it is only proposed for a single time slot, fully designing this as a fantasy tour with fixed start/finish would still quite some effort which i believe is better spent on creating a Dec Tour which we have 0 of as of now

so imo we either use the gpx profiles from last year or cut it, probably best to cut

Klaas Kemp doesn't approve this Tour des Paves, but I overrule him - at least Medaglia is there - and will publish it soon if there are no other complaints ;)

So then I can turn my attention to Tour du Faso. They hold a press conference today. Can someone please travel there and take notes? :)

Haha Hansa, I got the same via PM just now. I asked for more details but then no reply :D but the Map isn't too bad? :)

Edit: Checked last year. 2-3 IS per stage. No KOMs. So I think it can be designed like that.

Edit 2: They replied that more details will be published 23rd/24th October, so 1 day before the race :D

Profiles very boring indeed. all flat, pretty short stages in genereal. All circuits are done by guessing. But there are not many big streets in those cities/towns. If we don't get better profiles from somewhere, I think we can live with those

Wanna add 2-3 IS per stage? That's what they had last year.

Ok. Maybe just wait some more time, if we get info about IS. Otherwise I just add them randomly.
