Re: September 2024
Early post after there was demand for an early preview
Lots of important one day races (Canadian Classics, Continental and World Championships) mean a bit of a lack of stage races in September. Fine for me, but can understand if there is demand for additional stage races. So I am open to ideas for real or fantasy tours on dates
- not parallel to Cat. 4+ races
- ideally maybe also not parallel to the World Championship Road Race (?)
- max. 5 days

Re: September 2024
I think a short fantasy tour in starting at the 23rd would make sense. Should probably be something for sprinters and classics.
I could design something if needed, but would also happily let someone else do it as I already did the Tour of Moldova

Re: September 2024
As mentionned in the IG chat, there is Eure et Loir tour, with info already available. Real dates are a little bit later in the month, but I guess it's ok to ride it a bit earlier as it's a small tour lowcat. 3 stages, probably 3 possible sprints (maybe one for classics/hillsprinters, need to design it to be sure about it). I could design it the week of the 19th of August if needed.Tukhtahuaev wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2024 7:55 amI think a short fantasy tour in starting at the 23rd would make sense. Re: September 2024
Me personally, I always prefer stage races and I am happy if it’s with a lot mountains
Maybe we already have some stages races that are already designed and we canceled earlier?
Even from December-Tour contest. Still think it’s such a waste not to ride them all xD

Re: September 2024
I favor riding the Tour de Langkawi (29.09. - 06.10.). It would be nice to have a real race outside Europe. I know it starts on the day of the WC road race, but not everybody will want to ride there.
Tour of Britain (03.09. - 08.09) would also be nice. For me, the Cyclassics alone is not justification enough not to ride a tour at this time. The same is true for Istanbul (12.09. - 15.09) which clashes with Quebec and Montreal. As this is after the Vuelta field size should not be an issue.
Finally, I am not in favor of fantasy tours during the real season. There are enough real races, it is nice to have some fantasy one-day races with big fields and it is hard to justify if we omit real races in the same month.

Re: September 2024
Fourmies and Industria&Artigianato: In reality both the same day as the Hamburg thing, on the 8th. IMO better to move one to the 7th and one to the 9th. Not both to the 9th.
GP Fourmies: It's probably time to downgrade it to cat 3. In the end the startlist usually is ok on top, but lacks depth, won't be better this year, on the contrary, being parallel Hamburg this year will make it even worse than usual.
Industria&Artigianato: 9 riders in the preview, should be 8
Super 8: Not in the preview, 21st in reality.
GP Cerami: Now only 1.2 UCI, here too we probably will need to think about downgrading it to 1 and 7 riders at some point, but since that used to be a fairly ok race in the 80es, I vote to keep it at 2 for the moment, in the hopes that they find money to at least make it back to half way decent start lists.

Don't punish bugusers. We all have to use bugs, since most of them are declared as "features"!
Got a carrot from FL. But they threaten to take it away now.

Re: September 2024
I would also really appreciate it if we could add one or two small stage races.
Monday to Friday was very successful, in Burgos there were over 60 teams.
There should be a lot of tours with 3-5 or even 6 days.

Maybe we can do some more races at 8h. Its the perfect time for me and the last editions was very popular.

Re: September 2024
Final PDF uploaded.
Quite a few changes, but mostly concerning low-cat races:
- 2x 4-day fantasy stage races added (with 3 editions each). Britain, Langkawi, Istanbul, Eure et Loir all good ideas, but all of them difficult to include. Britain parallel to Vuelta and immediately after Benelux. The other three all parallel to World Championships. So as they cannot be ridden on the real date, I prefer to motivate fantasy race designers. AAD has some fantasy tours available, but if someone wants to design something, it's a good time now, too. Ideally flat/hilly tours, which are not necessarily won by Mountain/TT riders. Those new tours can also be used later in the off-season then Then, in October, instead of Langkawi, Cro Race looks likely starting 1st October. It has more World Tour Teams joining nowadays as Langkawi is no longer as popular as it was some years ago.
- D'accord with Big Donkey's post, so categories and riders adjusted according to it. Maybe some other classics' categories (between 3,4,5) also need adjustments in the long-run.
- More 8h, less 10h
- Less 18h, more 19,20h and 23h

Re: September 2024
You can still post proposals of 4 days stage races or even design one that would fit. I would like to see 2 different characteristics, like one for sprinters (with some difficulties still, like 4 days of Iceland) and one more hilly one but not ultra steep for climbers or 80-70 guys, more like classic riders to win the stages/GC. Feel free to point out some already designed stage races.Gipfelstuermer wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 3:36 pmFinal PDF uploaded.

Re: September 2024
a question in general to 1-day-races: i think the last month there are much flat and pave races, a few classic races but no (or really less) races for mountainriders!
Is it so or is it a false perception?
i wish more races with mountains if its possible ...

How much races for mountain riders should there be? Looking at the last 3 months and the preview for September, these are the number.bergwerk cycling wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2024 12:18 pma question in general to 1-day-races: i think the last month there are much flat and pave races, a few classic races but no (or really less) races for mountainriders!

(Mountain top finish/hard hilly)
June: 2/2
July: 3/4
August: 3/4
Sep (preview): 2/2
These are just one day races, a lot of HC mountain stages in the GTs parallel to it, also a lot of HC mountain stages in the smaller stage races parallel to it. 2-3 was always my goal, I don't know what it was before, but had the feeling that it was similar. Climbers are special interest riders concerning one day races imo. But I am happy to hear more opinions on that.

thks for the searching backwards.
if they are really 6-7 from (for classic/mountain) 30 days its ok (4 are too less in my eyes) ... but my feeling says that there are really much sprint+pave last weeks (perhaps i rode parallel tours or cant rode at those days) ...
thanks if you keep an eye on it

Re: September 2024
Now we really had/have a series of flat races (the * today is not really worth mentioning) but in general I think the distribution of races is ok. For me certainly not too few climbers races.
Before, as in the golden Donkey era , I think it was rather less... more 1-2 than 2-3, for the exact reasons you mention. Except real races of course, but in months without real races for climbers it could even be that we had 0 at times.. but mostly 1-2 I guess. Short check August 22, didn't click on all, but seems we really had 0 1-day races for climbers that month. So don't think we have less nowflockmastoR wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2024 12:45 pmI don't know what it was before, but had the feeling that it was similar.

Super8 : difficult to design atm, cause unclear map / not enough detailed roadbook / not actualised racefile. if needed can use the old profile (petegem) and adapt it later, especially where there is info about the cobble sectors.
Gooikse Pijl : can be redesigned if needed; deserves more 3% in that circuit. but won't change much anyway, ok to use old profile too.
Paris Chauny : light changes announced, but absolutely no info about it. dead website and nothing on their fb page. can use old profile for now, I will check later in September if they publish smthg

Three different circuits this year. Two same as last year. Last one has Baronto added.
Will publish by end of day if no comments (as I'd like to publish more September stuff before the month change).
