E) shorten the stage races by one day

I am still in favour of riding both on the same day and still dead against moving stage races.

It looks over 6.5 here and on the gpx find I found similar results.

+5 would completely change the character of the race and is clearly wrong. I will not fight about +6 or+7, but+7 looks more accurate to me.
